Petfinder.com is a great way to find a pet who really needs a home. We believe you shouldn't even think of going to pet stores or breeders without considering this option first. Every day during Pet Month, we're featuring some of our favorite furry friends from Petfinder.com.
Today is Kitty's day in the spotlight. Kitty is a orange and white male Domestic Short Hair kitten.
"Kitty is about six weeks old and is very sweet and loveable, but has no use of his back legs and is incontinent. Kitty can get around and climbs and plays fine. Kitty is being foster right now, but time seems to be of an essence. Finding a home for kitty is urgent. Kitty can be driven anywhere to a good home. Kitty is located in New Jersey."
To adopt Kitty, email Tara at MaddieK9@aol.com.

Ohhh!!! That pussy should be in my apartment.
The American obsession with pets is sick. Is there actually a person out there who wants to own a crippled, incontinent cat? Its just a cat, put the darn thing to sleep.
While I wouldn't go as far as Deborah I do think that it's a bit much to put all this time and energy towards a cat whose quality of live is questionable given that he can't use his back legs and is incontinent. Additionally (this is somewhat along the same line), I question the reasoning behind shipping rescue dogs from other countries when there are so many local dogs in need of rescue. Shouldn't all that money and resource be put to better use (not to mention the energy waste associated with international shipping).
Jesus, Deborah, who pissed in your cheerios?
While I understand Zhengy's point, I've seen dogs with no use of back legs who seem to be perfectly happy, so I'd imagine a well-taken-care-of cat may be fine, too. Poor thing, though. But there are a lot of devoted cat people who may take care of her, and I don't think that's a bad thing.
Seriously, what pessimists you are. This cat is alive-it has been given a gift of life. If it were an indoor cat, it could live up to 15 years of a happy, healthy life and make very good company for a lucky individual. I would never put this animal to sleep. I hope it finds a home.
Response to Deborah:
All life forms that make it through Birth, THIS INCLUDES HUMANS --- contain SPIRIT from SPIRIT. That said - What would your response be to those HUMANS (and they do exist)who share your view but with a difference - they believe in absolute perfection - especially in HUMAN BEINGS - so according to them and anyone HANDICAPPED (or to use your words CRIPPLED), blind, deaf etc. should be eradicated AT BIRTH (oh and also all PERFECT HUMANS should be WHITE, BLUE EYED, TALL, (if FEMALE (EXTRA PERFECT-if potentially flat chested or plain faced SORRY). I believe they were are called NAZI (with the perfect NAZI mentality).

What about the health and happiness of the person who has to smell and clean up the urine/feces?
Stace, I spent a good portion of my life on a farm and the cats there lived outside, ate leftovers or hunted for food. They looked pretty healthy to me, and we never had to clean up cat poop. If the weak ones died the ants got a good meal. Thats how nature works.
I'm disgusted by the waste of goods, food, and water on these animals. The way we use these animals is unnatural as well. Why should we have to spay or neuter another animal to make them suitable house pets? Why should they have to adapt to human lifestyles? I hate seeing dogs cooped up in an apartment waiting for their owner to come home just so they can exercise.
My opinion is that people in cities should not have pets.

CHILL OUT.
I was talking about animals, not humans...and if you are going to get ultra PC on me, I believe the word handicap has also been dissed in favor of "disabled" or "challenged"
Are you a vegetarian? True vegetarian, that is, not the kind that still eats chicken and fish. I hope you are. Otherwise you are a hypocrite. If the chicken exists to feed us, and the cat exists as our pet, you can kill a chicken with bird flu and you can kill a cat that can't make it to the litter box.
Deborah - My opinion is that people like you shouldn't own pets.
