As pet products have progressed into highly-styled items that won't clash with your decor, this is one of the first examples of furniture specifically designed for both cat and human use — the cubes can be used as ottomans or stools.

Cat Cubes are covered in sisal and are customizable in eight color choices and eighteen various leg choices. Cubes come in two sizes (18" and 27") and prices start at $345 for the most basic sisal cube (no legs). Via: ModernCat.

This looks good now, but after a lot of scratching that sisal will look ragged. I bet someone could easily hack something similar for a fraction of the (ridiculous) price.

I'll hang on for the IKEA hack. Cute kitties, though.

$345? You have got to be kidding me.

I could definitely DIY this for way less.

HOW THE HECK are they thinking someone will buy it? It's something your buying for the purpose of getting DESTROYED. $345 is insane, i'd hate myself for buying something that expensive 3 months later when the kitties have shredded it.

They're STILL missing the boat. A scratcher needs to be easily recoverable by the owner of the scratcher.

At the price for this one, I kind of expected it would have something along the lines of slipcovers.

There were tables like this recently on AT:
http://www.sawitfirst.co.uk/content/furniture1/cubesidetable

And there was that neat DIY planter bench, with the hole cut out for the pots (the pots were the legs of the bench).

If one can make holes for a bench, one can make holes in plywood, creating their own (much less expensive) cube table with circle openings.

Those would be nice looking and I'm sure the cats would love to zip in and out, as they already MAKE something similar for cats:

If people can make it themselves, they could also incorporate this kind of replaceable scratcher for the inside:

And depending on the skill of the person making it, it could well look like this:

Which looks like a darned nice end table, that your cats would absolutely love.
