Phillips de Pury Presents: Furnish Your Home This Weekend at Saturday @ Phillips

This is the last of our Phillips de Pury series so we thought we would go out with a bang, a fantasy, an art/design mashup to put in your apartment.

Imagine that it was your MO to go to art auctions to furnish your home. Saturday @ Phillips would be a great place to start. In addition to the fashion, jewelry, and Japanese toy collection this coming Saturday, they will be auctioning off an incredible assortment of 20th century design pieces. It's all there--from lamps to lounge chairs, couches to coffee tables, and vases to Victorian beds. And now for our shopping spree....

When it comes to a conversation starter that also serves as seating for your guests, I don't think you can do better than this pair!

This Swedish produced bent laminated beech plywood lounge chair would serve well in a small apartment... comfortable seating that doesn't take up a lot of room. It could complement a couch or even stand on its own.

Quite a pair of chairs. Ultrasuede and chrome-plated steel! Great for glamming up any room. And great with this coffee table.

Moving onto tables--these French made glass, chrome-plated metal and smoked glass objects can overlap or take up more room in your living space depending on your needs. Old-school stackable coffee tables.

A beautiful and classic brass, teak and felt storage piece by a mastermind of mid-century wood furniture.

Italian design that looks beautiful and provides subtle illumination to your bedside, dining room table, or landing strip in the entrance to your apartment. You could even mount it on the wall to preclude the need for surfaces or to keep the surfaces in your home devoid of anything at all.

Lastly, everyone needs a little Jonathan Adler in the mix. This multi-headed vase harks back to his early days.

Have a look around this Saturday. Take recycling to a new level. Buy vintage. Shopping at an auction gives you the chance to select from amongst a skillfully curated pool of great pieces. On occasion, you might even find that you'd spend the same amount of money on these items that you'd dole out for something new, not as well made, and certainly not valued as a collector's item.

Even if you don't intend to buy anything, Saturday @ Phillips is a fun social event and a chance to see these 20th Century master's works up close and personal. Enjoy!
