3-16-amy2.jpgCan't remember where we found Amy Butler, but clicking through to her website is like a opening up the windows on a sunny day.

Bright, colorful, poppy fabric designs will make you smile as they work their way across pillows, bags and books.

3-16-amy10.jpgOf course, we're interested in the pillows and the straight ahead fabric.

Based in Granville, Ohio, Amy has successfully separated herself from all of our NYC trends and aims for the "intimate." She collect vintage fabrics and they are definitely an influence, but her colors and her composition are totally contemporary.

Her site features pics of her studio along with an online store and links to see all of her fabrics, sewing patterns, books and stationary. Not surprisingly, some of her stuff is also available at Purl in SoHo.

Don't forget her phenomenal book, Found Style. It really shows how to mix flea market finds with mid century modern and contemporary in such a beautiful way.

really happy to see that she's selling products as well as the cloth. her design is fabulous, she hits the right note of pretty but not kitschy.

I love her stuff--I got her newest book for Christmas with all the patterns in it. Her fabric, though, is verging on stupidly expensive (at least for my budget), selling around $34CDN locally. I have to satisfy myself with the thought that drooling is free...

Kate, look for fat quarters. It's enough to make pillows out of, depending on how many you get. I keep finding them in a quilt shop in NYC.

Big fan of Amy's work. Her colour palette and prints work well with casual settings. For more upscale or formal settings, cushions from judyrosstextiles.com and leilare.com are fabulous. The former basically has crewel worked cushions and Leila Re's collection is on silks with embroidery. Enjoy!
