apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Hanno the Beechwood Gorilla by David Weeks

We've always loved Kay Bojesen's Teak Monkey &mdash and now, Brooklyn-based designer David Weeks has unleashed Hanno, a beechwood gorilla...

From the deepest jungles, Hanno the Gorilla comes to explore your playroom! Your living room! Your backyard! Hanno is the newest, funnest, coolest product we've made yet! He's named after Hanno the Navigator, a Greek voyager who explored Africa 2,500 years ago and discovered gorillas. Hanno has elastic band muscles that pop and lock into a myriad of poses. And, he's kind to the environment, since he's made of sustainably-harvested beech wood.

We would gladly invite Hanno to rest on our bookshelf. Available for pre-order (ships in late November) from Areaware for $75.

Ugh, are YOU kidding me? "now we are going to see all sorts of subconscious, weird messages about race"? This has been happening since probably before race was concept.

Personally, I'm happy that race is once again at the forefront of our national discussions!

--In the meantime, do you think Apartment Therapy should stop using the words, "White," "Black," "Asian," and any other words that might have any racial or cultural connotation until Random House or whomever prints a new dictionary? Should they go back into all the "Multi-colored Side Chair" "Metallic Colored" and "Candy-colored" posts and delete the word "Colored?"

Some people are just waiting to be offended...

Meanwhile - I love the Gorilla.
I think he's even cooler than the Monkey.

I have the monkey. It is awesome! It was one of my favorite toys as a kid, and still is especially since it doesn't take any batteries.

And I agree, I too am getting really sick of the race card getting pulled out at every turn.

Plain Jane, "I too am getting really sick of the race card getting pulled out at every turn".

Yeah, ok. Coming from someone who just vilified Obama as a "dishonest Arab" a few posts back.

i hear ya, inkstainedwriter, but when it comes to racist comments, i for one do not hold back on unleashing my fury against them. if folks want to be silly and post racist comments, then i believe they deserve to get the hammer thrown down against them. no matter when. i know not everyone feels the same way and would rather not get involved in such banter. and i understand why and i give them an empathetic nod. but that's not how i personally am wired. racist comments should never get a silent pass.

If you choose to see random juxtapositions as subliminal messages, then your aluminum hat is not jaunty enough. In February, they're switching to HD, so I hope you have your converter by then.
