Wine Bottle Plant Nannies from Napa Style

We've published posts about preparing your home before you leave for the holidays and Best Self Watering Solutions for Container Gardens. These Wine Bottle Plant Nannies could be just the ticket to keep your plants watered while you are away...

The terracotta stakes are fitted with a wine bottle of full of water and stuck in the plant's soil. As the terracotta absorbs the water, it will slowly leak into the soil and keep the plant's roots moist.

A set of four is $20 and three sets of four are currently on sale for $40 from Napa Style. These also make a great, useful gift. Wrapped with a nice ribbon, a single Plant Nannie would be a great $5 gift. Via: notcot.org.

I have always claimed to have a touch of death for houseplants, but the "Aqua Globes" (see above link) make me look like Martha freakin' Stewart! I bet these work just as well, but while the aqua globes say "I have a taste for Murano glass and a lush home," these kind of say "I am a lush with a taste for swill and am too embarrassed to put any more empties in the recycling bin outside my home." Of course, that's just in *my* home, where we don't by anything over $10 a bottle!

I love this look, it amuses me to no end especially with the wine bottles we collect!! Anyway, beware if using this device in a small pot, the dirt can get overwatered easily.

Sometimes when I'm out shopping with my mom, she will pick up things that have graphically appealing labels.

This could be a great way for her to continue to enjoy that visually pleasant wine label.

I think I might have just found Mom's Xmas present #3.

The point of this item is to not kill your plants when you are not home and can't have anyone come water your plants. Does it really matter what it "looks like" when you are not there?

If an ugly wine bottle waters my plants in my empty home, am I still in style?

I'm imagining this would work well for big plants, but the weight of the wine bottles would topple smaller ones.

I'm sorry that is quite possibly the best thing ever!
