The winner this year was Park Slope, and it was 8th Street between Prospect Park West and 8th Avenue that snagged the title. It is a beautiful area to walk through. This award keeps getting more and more coveted as the years pass. And although the winner has a lot to crow about, it is
the list of semi-finalists that I am always interested to read.
The semi-finalist list this year has East Flatbush, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Park Slope, and Prospect Park South with the largest entries represented. Very different neighborhoods in many ways, but this list shows that these areas are all strong on one thing: a sense of community. A block doesn't get beautiful on its own.
Congratulations to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and entered!
The BBG has a complete listing of the residential and commercial awards for 2008on their website.
This past week Brownstoner put up a very nice slideshow and post on the winners.

As someone who is about to move into a flat with lots of concrete stairs and no trees, these pictures have truly inspired me.
