PlantTherapy: Modular Window Box

2008-03-22modular flowers.jpg

I have a motley group of pots on various windowsills, which is why this caught my interest over on the Smith & Hawken website...

It's like a playpen for pots. At 38" and 49" in length, it's not quite right for my windowsills. But for the right person this could keep a group of pots secure, allowing one to switch out pots or care for individual plants throughout the year. And the base tray could also be used to keep up humidity in a dry apartment. It's also on sale
. They also list the railing mounts (which won't ship until May!). Good mounting hardware for planters always seems difficult to find. Does anyone have a good resource that wouldn't require waiting a month?

thanks so much for the link to this window box. i think it's very elegant and i'm studying now on where i might make use of one....
do you think this is the 'black' finish that's shown in the photo? i see they offer black and a matte gray, both somewhat distressed (per the online copy). i like the look of this color, and i'm guessing it's the black.....

Smith and Hawken recently screwed up two key orders....A wreath for my mother's 85th birthday, and a Easter orchid for my fiance'.
My mother's gift was still not delivered a week after the fact, the orchid 21 days later is MIA.
They didn't even have the courtesy to contact me...
Don't know what's up with them, but they've lost a very loyal and lucerative customer...

Checked out the prices on these things and just as I suspected this is a good do it yourself project which could save you a lot of money. As for the brackets they have these things at hardware stores all the time. Don't know what the problem is with them not having them until May.

Plants behind bars..... looks more like a prison for plants to me than a "playpen for pots"
