PlantTherapy: Nice Bunch!

Epiphyllum Nora Cantafio at Wave Hill

Okay, so it is not a bouquet, but this Epiphyllum blossom is impacting. For all the talk about wanting flowers to last and last, I find it interesting that the most popular species of Epiphyllum is Epiphyllum oxypetalum, which blossoms and dies within a night. But what these plants may lack in longevity they make up for in drama.

These plants are very easy to grow from leaf clippings, and make very good houseplants for those that have good sun.

Epiforums is a good place to begin learning and talking with people who have Epiphyllums.

GardenWeb's cacti and succulents forum also has a number of posts for Epiphyllum.

Thanks for the plug Matt. I do grow multiple epiphyllum hybrids in the NYC area, so for those who question whether or not these "jungle cacti" will survive in our zone area, as long as they get some outdoor time in the summer, they will be fine.
Here are some photos of epiphyllum from another NY'er.
