Here's my list of things to do on a rainy day:
- compulsively play Animal Crossing
- build a House of Cards
- write a folding letter
- explore BLDGBLOG
- research PubliColor (thanks, Tat!)
- learn sign language
- read a rain poem
- splash through puddles
What's on your list?

OMG i'm so embarassed by BLDGBLOG. LA and our "chopper news" is so disgraceful. Not to mention the last photo posted in the article is just 1.5 miles from my house.
I saw a quote recently about our LAPD chief. apparently he worked in your town NYC before us, and when asked why there were so many car chases here he replied...[not exact quote] there are alot of idiots in the both NYC and LA, the difference being the LA idiots all have cars and are mobile.
so true...so true. they probably want to be movie stars too.
Thanks for introduction of new (to me) BLDGBLOG. They have an interesting post on Manhattan Sewer Project; I remember reading about it in the New Yorker, at the time I still subscribed.
My husband and I are watching the rain fall, drinking tea, and having deep conversations about things we see in the world that interest/bother us. We've been talking for 4 hours now, I had to break to read a little AT. :)

I'm still working on fixing up my office/guest bedroom. Today, I recycled on of the old sliding doors into a new, larger desk surface.
Click on my name to see the latest photos.
Still working on completely rearranging the apartment, having replaced the gawdawful shelving with two tansu chests.
Trying to cull the dollhouse herd to the point where I feel enthusiastic about building rather than pressured for space...
Waiting for snow... yes, snow is deemed possible down to 500 feet, possibly all the way to sea level. This never happens here!
Painting... taking cat naps while the paint dries... and trying to stay warm. It's so cold here today! The hail the other night *almost* made it look like it had snowed on my deck.
Tisn't raining in Chicago, but it's gray and we're having a quiet day. I'm rearranging the bedroom to accommodate a dresser that used to be in what used to be the guest room but has become the Room with the Elliptical Trainer. This is a seriously scary object.
Guido. Thank you. I'm gonna see if I can get my trick hip to work and learn to salsa so I can do justice to your crazy Latin rhythms.
Much appreciated.

Should have added that the all-time perfect thing for rainy days is re-reading Jane Austen, without which, rainy days would have no justification whatsoever for being.
We're just back from seeing the Rauschenberg Combines at the Met and now we're going to order in Afghani and affix paint and socks to boards.
Ha Lisa! Can't argue with that.
Well, today I was at the AD show but on a normal rainy Sunday I sleep late, read the paper, make a bloody mary, watch an old movie on TV and eventually end up napping on the sofa.
(can't wait til next weekend!)
Lisa: Had to add to what you wrote and say that in place of your Jane Austen, my rainy day reason for being (does that make sense?!?) is lighting up some red candles and listening to Jeff Buckley while getting all the little things done around here than never seem to matter until the day is gray and wet. Something about his voice transcends even the rainiest of weather and just seems to fit!
rainy sundays are made for cooking a luxurious dinner!
I ADORE Jeff Buckley!
On a rainy Sunday I like to go to the gym, and maybe hear some inspirational, spiritual type of message some place during the day to pump me up through the bad weather blues. Also love to watch cooking shows on public access, read the Sunday paper and then cook a good dinner.
ummmmmmm...gosh, maybe i'm just a dissolute horror, but what about laying in bed all day, listening to music, and having sex? then you get up, have some tea and fruit, and then have more sex. then you watch a movie (still in bed), and then more sex.
is that so wrong?
