...it's year 12 of a drought here. Rain is incredibly exciting on the rare occasions when it happens.

Post more things on eBay and Craigslist (and hope, this time, when people say they are going to buy something on CL, that they actuallt *do*).

Oh lordie, I do need to do something about eBay... *sigh*... that *was* my plan for cleaning part of the closet...
What is it about CL that turns people into complete flakes? I had someone NOT SHOW UP to pick up a nice piece of furniture, offered for free (FREE!), who didn't bother to call to tell me she wasn't coming.

p2, what's your userid on ebay? I'd like to see what you have for sale.

how about spending the entire day stuffing towels into my leaking livingroom windows and mopping up the floor where the rainy water is splattering ...

karenmmm--growing up in lousisiana, every time we had a good rain, the yard would flood so much that I could paddle our canoe all the way around the house while my mom rolled up the carpet and put it on top of the table. At the time, I thought it was great fun---now I can appreciate her point of view ;)

Speaking of ebay and craigslist, I have a box of Haviland cups and saucers. Couple of them are Limoges. They are all really lovely pieces, just not my thing any more. If anyone here has an interest, I will post some pictures - I'd let a nice AT-er have any of them for a song and shipping.
Posted a vase & a bowl on ebay this morning, find me as "realcalm". Otherwise I just blew away the day reading and napping, more napping.

wende--
Believe it or not, I've found the Free people to be less reliabel and even more inconsiderate about time than those actually purchasing... go figure.
Not all of my CL experiences have been bad, but it IS "work".

Lacy! I will photograph the cups & saucers and post then at flickr. Probably not tonight, but I'll post a note at "Open Threads" when I do. Cool, I would love to see these have a good home. JoanneM

Attention DC: Guess what I discovered on this low, rainy day? A brand new Mitchell Gold Bob Williams store on 14th St! When the heck did this open? I wanted everything in the place. http://www.mitchellgold.com/sl_dc.asp

Great for water conservation (even for us Rainforest folks on the west coast!)

not so rainy today in nashville, but it was pouring yesterday. i made tea and read an entire book in one sitting. (cormac mccarthy's "the road," if anyone wants a recommendation. i didn't find it quite as bleak as others did, but then, i'm deeply weird.)
i also took advantage of the bad weather to hit the big box stores and finally get some decent pillows and a great memory foam mattress pad (macy's house brand--surprisingly affordable, and much denser than most knockoff memory foam.)

Well, I was a busy boy this weekend; at least Friday and Saturday. I made some great progress on the wall of my Upper East Side client on Friday, and on Saturday I finished (except for some VERY minor fashion detailing) this funny little kitchen project at a friend's place on the Upper West Side. For that project, I just have to make some time at home with my computer and put up a little "set" in my Flickr thing.
