Welcome to Rachel!
Thank you for taking the time to look at my art in my home. Rachel (Upper West Side)

Rachel! Great space - you should do a house tour. I'd love to see what the entire apartment looks like!
I thought this section is about the ART?!
Rachel, I love your artwork! Who is the artist on the small black and white painting? The dog is adorable. Did you have that portrait done of him/her?
I also love the feel and the furnishings. Well done.
Rachel,
Love your space. Can you tell me what paint color you used in the first picture? It's very warm...
I love this space!
Not to sound like an echo but...I love this space, too! You've accomplished an impressive mix of warmth, individuality and a touch of quirk in your living room (I'm still working on that mix for my own space); love the mix of cushions with the lamp and the carpet...great job!
love the rug. where did you find it?
what a warm, welcoming space. love it! and the little pup is adorable as well, what kind of dog is that? that b & w carpet really makes the room and i admire your ability to pull together a variety of unique textures and prints.
OK that dog is too cute!!! and can you please tell me where you got your floor lamp in the first picture? thank you.
Very nice! It has that "put together" look.
NJ-I know how awful urban outfitter is, however, I was looking at their site the other day and think I saw a rug like that.
I love that couch.
Your place is so lovely and romantic. So sensual, I could hear music looking at your pics. Are you a jazz lover? I really got a smile from the pic of the dog under the painting. Thank your for sharing.
Your sofa makes me salivate. The dog with portrait overhead put a smile on my face. I'm not even into animal prints but would own that rug in a second.
I'm with Peggy and all the others on this one - GREAT romantic space!
It's like Hollywood meets African safari...
Holly
Beautiful space!
Loving the vintage pieces and accessories.
Well done.
I saw a rug very like that in the Fall Pottery Barn catalog (if I remember correctly)
yay thats awesome!
where is that floor lamp over the couch from? please do tell..
West Elm carries a zebra rug too. Look on their website.
That was such a fun sneak peak of your apt - You did such an amazing job, I love it and LOVE the art! Gorgeous!!!
Urgh. Sorry everyone. Hello!? Is it just me? It's an okay couch. But the beige wall? Really folks! The picture frames are so -urgh- dull. And the painting behind the sofa? Clinical Depression Anonymous would love that for the cover of their brochure. After pictures, please!
Puppy is cute, tho, give u that.
Thank you all so much! I've been a loyal lurker of this site for a year or two, but felt too intimidated to participate.Your input means a lot to me, I'm very flattered.
Okay:
THE LAMP:Bed Bath Beyond ($90) I removed the frosted glass shade it came with and added a Chinese lantern (Pearl River $12)
THE RUG: Is indeed from Urban Outfitters. I've washed it a few times which has given it a kind of "distressed" look. I've seen similar ones (West Elm, Pottery Barn as mentioned) but Urban is right on the corner. I rotate between this and a white acrylic shag; I only use inexpensive, washable rugs due to the
ADORABLE DOGGIE: Yorkshire Terrier, love of our lives.
PAINT: The color is a buttery YELLOW by Benjamin Moore called "Candelit Dinner" it's actually in all of the pictures. It's a great color to live with and it doesn't read as yellow as much as sunny and like you said, warm.
I'm so pleased that you like the couch, we love it but were considering selling it and getting something else because it's hard to work around. I feel better about it now!
I would love to do a house tour once we are really settled, which should be soon as long as I don't embark on anymore "little projects" (upholstering a couch, making sconce shades out of placemats, etc.)
Anyway, thanks again everyone and thank you to Maxwell for such a great site and concept.
thanks for the tip on the floor lamp! which shade did you buy @ Pearl River? (I can't figure it out by looking at them on their website) thanks!!! -Denise
What a great place! I'd love to see more pictures.
I hate to say this about some of our own products, I work for an online store that sells area rugs, but I could never picture a room with a rug like this zebra rug that looked good. Every room I would picture with one would look tacky. But I really like how Rachel uses it in this room. I realize I am a little off subject here but I wanted to say it looks great.
If I understood correctly, you yourself did all the art work, including the painting of the yorkie, right?
GREAT job!
Denise-I notice that Pearl River doesn't always have the same selection, but they should have one with the same vibe. Also, Urban had something similar at one point. I forgot to mention - I hung the asian coin and chandelier crystal from it. I got them both at flea markets. They are pretty easy to find. I got a whole bunch of lanterns and ended up with this one through trial and error (Key word, error).
Hey Rachel,
I too admire your room and I am jealous of the high ceiling. I think I'd like to do a lamp like yours for my daughter so if you don't mind, would you describe how you were able to afix the shade onto the lamp, I haven't seen a screen that can be screwed on.
