Welcome to Vicky!

I'm a college student that still lives with my parents, and I thought I'd share with you pictures of our living and dining room. Most of the art in our home are pieces created by my Father (www.bensum.com) & Step-Mom. (You may remember the cardboard chair from a while back.)...

Our fireplace mantel and the bookshelf next to it are
constantly changing with new small pieces. The two
white model houses next to the dog paintings on the
mantel are samples of the studio we hope to build in
our backyard someday.

No wonder you're not in such a hurry to choke your parents with heel-dust; they have incredible taste and they're hip as all Hell!

I'm swooning about the way that cardboard chair's surved back relates to the arched built-in to the left of the fireplace AND how the Art Deco fluting around the fireplace relates to the mini-blinds.

I almost want to see an arched mirror with a flat bottom hung upside down above that fireplace, but I love all of it so much as it is it's just not funny.

Are you an artist as well? You and your family have done an amazing job making your home tasteful and interesting at the same time. Well done!

What a beautiful home! I really love the basic/simple furniture set off by the amazing art. Yeah, I wouldn't move out either.

Where is the black couch from?
All of the art is great too!

(I can't commit to art - but I can commit to furniture!)

Click, it looks like an IKEA Klippan sofa to me. I know they used to sell black leather covers.

I love how all the furniture is a black and white (neutral) palette so the art is the focus. Your eye is immediately drawn to all these interesting and even thought provoking pieces. Yet, it doesn't feel like you're in a gallery. Well done! Where exactly are you in Texas by the way? I'm an artist in Austin.

I love your home! Your parents are too cool. Are you an artist too? It's so great how they have achieved a look with a lot of art, but yet simplicity. I remember seeing the cardboard chair and just being absolutely fascinated by it. Now I am even more fascinated now that I see it matches the round shape of the windows.

What are the vases in the first picture on the mantels? I can't quite tell, is that branches in them?

The painting in the dining room is stunning in its simplicity.

Thanks for sharing!

This house is FANTASTIC! Do you think he might spare (another) painting or two for my house?
