Welcome to Cindy and David!
Attached are three photographs of our bathroom. I bought the stamped-tin-ceiling wrapped mirror, the metal bins under the sink, the small tin-ceiling photo frame, and the miniture green bench at a flea market. When we renovated our bathroom we saved money by salvaging the sink top from the old cheap vanity and building a new stand for it...

It not only gave us the look we wanted, but saved a LOT of money. The faucet is Kohler, purchased very cheap on e-bay. Before we renovated, there was a ledge between the end of the bathtub and the wall. When we renovated, I decided to put the new wall at the end of the tub, and then build storage shelves between the new wall and the old wall.

Because the shelves are so deep each one holds 2 baskets, giving us much more storage than we would have with an ordinary medicine cabinet and vanity. The baskets are from target. The vase, frames, hooks, and shower curtain are from IKEA. We made an organic shape on photoshop, repeated all over the page and printed it in two different colors on our color printer, original art at next to nothing.
The paint is from home depot, color corn husk by Behr. We re-glazed the original tub, installed the new tile directly over the old tile, and put up the bead-board. We also had a plumber remove a radiator to make room for the bookcase.
The bathroom is an interior room so we didn't really need the radiator and it was taking up valuable space. I think we've made the most of the space. Having a clean and organized bathroom makes getting ready in the morning not only easy, but a mini dose of therapy.
Thank you, Cindy and David
I like this a lot.
very nice. traditional with a fresh twist. i love the contrasting color of the towels, shower curtain and wastepaper basket. glad you didn't go all green on those. and the storage nook is fab!
hey, would you consider maybe changing the bins under the sink to perhaps a woven basket or a tin or wood container? just to complete the look, you know?
overall, very nice. congrats and enjoy!
One of the warmest and inviting rooms I have seen in a long time-a real accomplishment for a bathroom!
Love it - you really put your personal stamp on it.
Very, very nice! I do agree with Lourdes about the bins under the sink. How about spray-enameling them white? Right now, they really stand out and not in the best way.
Love the colors! Such a serene and lovely room.
What about attaching a small piece of white or "corn husk" colored fabric/curtain to cover up the under-sink area? Not only are the black containers taking away from the space but the pipe is drawing the eye there as well. Then you wouldn't be forced to keep that area military neat all the time, it would be concealed by the fabric.
Great job!
what about painting the pipes white to blend in with the wall? I dont have any idea if there would be plumbing reasons for not doing this though.
I love the stand for your sink..very simple. And that odd space where you built the shelves is the same as was in a townhouse that I looked at recently. What a great idea for making that a fantastic useful space!
Very inspiring! This is totally the look I am going for in my bathroom. I especially love that pretty shade of green.
I really like this room, from the paint color to the storage nook, to the bookcase and stool, the entire room is very well thought out.
The only thing I'm not too crazy about, and this is minimal is the storage under the sink. I agree with the comment about changing the baskets and maybe painting the plumbing because it kind of stands out in the picture.
Then again, how often do people see under the sink?
Again, nice job.
Love love love the beadboard with towel hooks. Reminds me of the bathrooms at The Porches Inn in Massachusetts. Gorgeous!
Painted pipes turn nasty pretty fast. I think it has to do with the fact that they often sweat in the summer. The seem to attract dirt too.
Porches was indeed the inspiration! It is one of our favorite escapes.
The shower curtain is pretty and I love me some wainscotting.
Hey Cindy, I never noticed the pipes before. Forget about the bins under the sink -get another picture from a grown-up perspective and see if it shows the room better. You know I love what you did with this bathroom - the transformation from what it WAS to what it IS - is miraculous.
Looks great! And I adore your itty-bitty stool! So cute... (:
I love what you've done with your bathroom! Despite the small space, it looks so fresh and inviting. I especially adore the shelving and cute stool. When I eventually own my own place, I intend to paint the walls a sunny yellow for a similar effect :)
Love how you transformed the ledge at end of bathtub to a mega, floor-to-ceiling storage space big enough for two baskets per shelf. The Target baskets look great on the shelf. So neat and tidy.
The DIY artwork is superb too.
I enjoyed seeing your bathroom remodel. I think it's beautiful, and very inspirational for me, since this remodel would fit well with the building style of my home. But I agree with what some others have said about the storage under the sink. To me it looks a bit off. Maybe replacing the baskets with higher ones or adding a shelf and perhaps another set of baskets above if it fits.
Another way to change the appearance of it would be to add a towel rail to the stand right in the front so towels would cover the space somewhat.
Thanks for sharing the pics, and congrats on the new bathroom
