Hi AT, This is my rig:
• Hans Grohe Axor Shower Accessories( diverter, controls, head ,body sprays)
• Turkish Black Schist Tile...

How do you stop the clothes you are wearing from getting wet whilst using a bidet?
Ok, this may not be the proper forum for this question but how exactly does one use a bidet? I know what it for, but how *physically* do you use one? Do you sit on it? If so, which way do you face?
Other, than that, LOVE the tub!
In the last condo I lived in I was lucky enough to have a bidet like the one shown with the faucet coming off the back rather than in the bowl. I would just sit on it like I would the toilet and tilt my hips/tushey back or forward a bit depending on where I wanted the water to go. I also found the bidet to be a very useful place to water the houseplants that resided in my adjoining bedroom ;-)
I LOVED LOVED LOVED it and I wish I had the room in my current townhouse bathroom to install one.
What a lovely bathroom. So well thought out and even the fittings are beautiful. Now, can you come and do mine?
Thank you, Monica! The long national nightmare is now over! ;)
Maryj,
i use the bidet just like Monica (that's the way i was taught in europe when i was little). it is also very useful for quickly washing your feet and not getting your rolled up pants wet!
Damn, that tub is gorgeous!
AT has my rapt attention this month. My husband might win out on his kitchen remodel versus my bathroom remodel, but I hold out hope that with pictures like this, he may see the light.
You sit on the bidet facing the tap, legs apart, if you want to just wash *up front* (ladies especially... it's quick and nice), or you sit the other way around if you need to "attend to" your bum. Or you fill the basin and splash the water on your parts with you hand, but that's less hygienic. That's all. I've travelled a bit and I've also lived abroad so it's nothing new to me, but fellow Italians tend to pull disgusted faces and gasp in disbelief when they hear that in most other countries bidets are so rare. Here in Italy it is simply essential. Not having a bidet is considered short of life-threatening! :-)
Wow, what a great tub, so beautiful
Why a bidet? When there are so many diodegradable wipes for your tooshy?
Seems more sanitary and easier than a bidet (i.e., just water)
bidets are the Jans of the bathroom... ignored and misunderstood.
having grown up having one in every bathroom , my parents being Italian had them installed, I found them quite refreshing to use and, I'm a guy. (We lived in the hot, muggy South.)
My sis rather enjoyed it, as I recall...
Now that we have flushable wipes, I guess that wastes less water so it might be a more environmentaly friendly alternative....
anyhow, I luv this bathroom, sleek and simple but, let's he honest, it cost a fortune, no?
what was the final price tag, I'm quite curious since I'm planning a bathroom redo and need to see if my dreams come anywhere near my $ reality...
Violetsrose,
You control the water flow so you can have it at a low flow and not get your clothes wet. If you're wearing pants you will want to push them and your undies down below your knees to make extra sure you don't splash them, but I only got my pants wet a few times when I had the water turned up too high. If you're in a skirt you just have to hold it up around your waist. There's always a chance of getting a few splashes on your clothes, but if you're at home it's not a real big deal.
Jeff,
As far as disposable wipes go, they are a great option, but in my humble opinion, there's nothing as refreshing and a good amount of warm water flowing over and cleaning your delicate nether regions! I also don't like flushing those wipes down the toilet because I'm always worried they will clog the pipes, even if they say they're flush-friendly. If you are really feeling yucky you can use soap and do a thorough washing. I've used soap quite a few times (especially during that time of the month) and it works great.
I'm not too sure that the wipes you talk about can actually have a lesser impact than a little water from the bidet, considering the whole process of producing, packaging and distributing them.
And I've never seen flushable wipes in Italy anyway, possibly because no one over here would ever give up their bidets in favour of those! :-)
On the other hand, we have plenty of choice when it comes to detergents for intimate parts. Dozens of different products in fact.
Beautiful tub, anyway :-)
what color are the walls? and is that a standard paint job or something special.
beautiful. and the bidet posts are informative.
I truely appreciate the kind words.. as far as the walls , they are Venetian Plaster with a Ultramarine pigment base coat.
The Spoon tub does really seat two comfortably.
