Welcome to AO!

The key to a great bedroom is to focus on making a sanctuary for privacy, relaxation, and (ultimately) sleeping.
For our apartment we chose:
-Light blocking shades to keep out street light and added the top-down feature to allow for morning or evening light while retaining privacy.
-Ultra-quiet ceiling fan and humidifier (the white donut looking thing on the dresser)....

-A small cat door to let the kitties in/out of the bedroom anytime w/o disturbing resting humans. Keeping the door closed allows for heat or a/c control
-Minimal clutter:
--We only have a few books and a wall mounted tv with hidden electronics (see the floating re-purposed white Ikea shoe box on the wall? the a/v equipment is in there.)
--HUGE Closet remodel to hide away all our stuff.
-Soothing wallpaper that makes a statement. "Relax, you are in a cozy birch forest"

Cheers, AO

That's too funny.

Is that the same bed as in Jennie's bi-level retreat? can we have details?

Ikea Malm bed.

"Home Sweet Home" is comforting, that Gothic font is however not.

I am going to appropriate the kitty door...oh how he whines to get in and then cries to get out once in!!!

I'm in love with this wallpaper. Can you tell me who makes it and where I can find it?

Amanada - The wallpaper is the Cole & Sons "Woods". You can buy it online from www.roseandradish.com

Cat doors. Genius. Especially with our electric heat pump.

Could be a nuissance during 3am KHD (kitty hyperactive disorder).

I just bought this wallpaper myself after trying to ID it for about 6 months from magazines and adverts - i even saw it on MTV on Cribs!!

What did i find out? Cole and Sons (Since 1875) are based 1.4 miles from my London flat... lmao!

Interestingly, because all their paper is hand-printed, it's all hand printed 1.4 miles from me, so everywhere you ever see it, it all comes from here!

Btw here, it costs £42 per roll with a 2 roll minimum order.

Very nice, but I kind of want the bedspread to be s solid print, and maybe a cooler color.

I liked seeing the wallpaper in a house-- it looks just as great as in the fancy mags.

Thanks a lot for sharing though, it's hard to do w/ cyber critics lurking :)

has a very serene look, were the shades expensive, I think that's the look I want, are those called top down bottom up?

Hello Everyone! Thanks for the comments. To answer a few questions:

-Wallpaper is the Cole & Son New Contemporary Two Collection, "Woods" design in the basic color 69-12147 more info here http://www.cole-and-son.com/collection_detail.asp?SubID=194&ID=13

-The humidifier is from ±0 http://www.plusminuszero.jp/, in Japan. We got it from the importer Compact-Impact. More info here: http://www.compact-impact.com/contents/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&category_id=14&product_id=63&Itemid=1

-The shades were a little pricey b/c of the light-blocking material and top-down-bottom-up (aka TDBU) option. We got them from Interior Motif in Hoboken, NJ. They are "Duette Honeycomb shades" made by Hunter-Douglas.

-The kitty door is the "cat flap" by PetSafe. You can find it at Petco or online. We cut a hole in the door and installed the flap at the door center. The cat flap has locking positions to allow kitties in, out, or both directions.

-The bed is IKEA Malm with the optional side tables. It works, that is all I can say. :)

-Solid color sheets is a good suggestion. I stalk the Dwell bed sample sale every year so we have a big collection of solids and patterns to swap often.

Thanks again for the nice comments.

Cheers,
AO
