Welcome to Elise!

Our bedroom (and baby daughter) in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. A nap sounds good about now... Apartmenttherapy.com validates our family of four's 650 square-foot apartment.

Thank you! Elise Miller

At least from the pics of the bedroom, it looks like you've succeeded in making 650 sq. ft. look expansive. The airy, calm yellow was an excellent choice.

very peaceful! would love to know more about how you guys live in a small space with baby, we are trying to do the same. does your daughter have her own room? And I love the lamps on your bedside tables.

Looks so serene! I keep waiting for a snarky commenter to say something like "Get that baby off the bed and into a crib!" or something. The snark runneth deep here at AT lately. But anyways, I too love the lamps and would be grateful to know where you found them (in particular the cool shades!) thanks!

What great architectural details! I also think the cabinetry and the window seat were a great way to get storage and seating in that woom without making it seem cluttered. Really lovely room.

I love it! Can you tell us where you got the little triangular table?

kate, the table looks like a tabletop & legs combo from ikea...not sure if they have it on the website, but they definitely have that top in the stores.

Elise, I'd love for you to post a photo tour of your whole apartment. It looks great and I'd like to see how you've set things up for a family of four living in such small quarters.

Great bedroom!

Also, what paint color/brand did you use? I am looking for a nice yellow color for my bedroom too...

Anne (Reno) - that was a clever (and underhanded) way to get your comment in...

Wow, thank you so much. It makes me feel so vulnerable posting pics of my apartment, so I appreciate everyone's kind words. (Anne in Reno, I thought about the baby being on the bed while I snapped away, and want to assure you and the snarkies that no babies were harmed during the creation of this bedroom post. Thanks for your concern-- I definitely understand!)

Okay, details--

The paint color is "Beacon Hill Damask" (HC-2), by Benjamin Moore. (After living in a small space for six years I've learned that the historical colors are the only ones that don't get on my nerves after two weeks, since they're muted. Our bedroom went through four color changes before settling on this one.) The trim is "Meadow Mist" (OC-134).

The triangular table was custom built by my husband, who you can see in one of the shots. The legs are from Ikea. We wanted the adjustable ones, which I think cost twice as much, but the only ones in stock were these, which do not adjust, and our floors and chair rails are uneven from the building settling. But I was in a hurry to get the apartment done before baby was born, so these do the job.

The lamps. The bases are antiques. The marble one belonged to my grandmother and I bought the glass/brass in the Poconos, in a cavernous antique barn in Stroudsburg on route 611. It was about twenty bucks. The shades are from http://lampsplus.com, $14.99.

The built-ins store our clothes and office files, and were built by a carpenter in our building who cut us a good deal, and were designed by me. The flokati rugs on top are from http://rugsusa.com

The kids share a room, our old bedroom. The bedroom posted here is the original dining room.

Hope this helps! Thanks again,
elise

That bedroom looks so incredibly dreamy and peaceful - just like a bedroom should look. Beautiful!
