Welcome to Megumi!

Here's my bunny-infested bedroom. It's quite nice (I think) despite the two bunnies that live here. It has been a very challenging experience to make the bedroom look nice and still be bunny-proof / bunny-friendly.

My tips are:
[1] Don't get bunnies.
[2] But if you must, a nice carpet and a Roomba works pretty well! ... Okay, get bunnies.

Ha! Tip #1 is funny. I had a bunny once and he was very clean, but meaner than Naomi Campbell on a bad hair day.

Rabbits are great and I have a fantastic recipe from my Armenian neighbor if you want me to share it.

P.S. Nice color and are you as sick to death of looking at window units as I am?

Yeah! I’m so happy to finally see something about living with rabbits and bunny proofing on this site. I’m about to adopt one and am trying to bunny proof my small studio apartment. Sharing space with rabbits does require considerable decorating compromises… but you have done it beautifully. You’ve done a good job at drawing attention away from all the bunny gear. Your bedroom is so neat and tidy; I don’t even see any stray hay.

Do the rabbits have trouble with traction on the hardwood floors?

Hey:

Thanks everyone for the kind comments! The lamp is a present from my sister, the design is by Tord Boontje (http://www.tordboontje.com/).

I also posted two recent pictures of my bunnies. (They are cute, if annoying. They also serve as my alarm clock!) One of the rabbits can run on any surface, but the other one really prefers the carpet. I guess it depends on the rabbit. :)

Megumi, is the sewing machine functional? Is it, by chance, a Featherweight? It's a beauty!

Wow! I love how crisp and deliberate all of your furnishings are. Nothing extra, but it doesn't look like you are lacking anything... Very airy and certainly not overdone. And your floors are beautiful. A class act!

You had me at "bunny infested." That first bunny pic is so cute. You're place could look like a dump and I would like it just because the bunnies are there.

No clutter (yet full of warmth)! I'm jealous...

The bird ornament is gorgeous, especially against the yellow wall. It shows your unique taste.

I don't like having pets, but I admit the rabbits are cute.

Beautiful home, beautiful bunnies. And a very good quote for tip [2] (part two), although Katharine Hepburn was the one to say it, not Audrey.

your room is great and bunnies are sooo cute! You also take great photographs.

You are so lucky your bunnies don't chew electrical cords - my 2 would have every single one of them severed within 30 seconds!!

And I notice you buy from oxbow - I love them too!

My bunnies can't get around on hardwood floors, so I make little islands with rugs for them to move around on :)

That desk/bookshelf is exactly what I've been looking for... where did you get it?

I have a lop just like yours... he lives quite happily under my bed :)

Thanks, everyone!

The sewing machine is functional. Unfortunately, I don't know how to sew (yet). (It's fun to pretend though.)

Yes, you're absolutely correct! It was Katharine Hepburn. (My bad!)

My bunnies are just as bad with electrical cords. I roll up the "excess" of the only cord in the room (from the Tord Boontje lamp), so nothing is hanging within bunny reach. =:3

The desk is from Crate and Barrel. It's called the Alto Leaning Desk. There's also a smaller variation of it called the Leaning Desk.

Love the wall color! What is the brand & color?

posted by JenNDC on 2007-02-19 21:12:19

ughh - could the photographer pull out a bit more before snapping these pics? I disliked looking at 2 square feet of space per picture and it definitely did not give any context. Also did not like the color yellow chosen for the bedroom. The bunnies ARE cute though.

I feel so embarrased looking at the pictures under the sink!

And shame on you Kurt. I havn't laughed that hard in a long time.
