Fancy Homes from W Magazine
A Scottish Estate & Marc Jacob's Parisian Apartment...

W magazine has just created a House Tour archives of their most over-the-top homes. From a 17th century castle in the Dolomites to Marc Jacobs' art-filled Paris apartment, these are certainly not your average homes. We usually try to focus on the more practical, but sometimes it's fun to see what's out there.

This ancestral Scottish estate (top) is the home of the Marquess and Marchioness of Brute. The land has been home to his family for 700 years. It was the current Marquess' great-great-grandfather, the 3rd Marquess, who was widely considered the richest man in Britain during his lifetime, who started work on creating this red sandstone palace in 1880 on the family land.

The last two photos are of Marc Jacobs' Paris apartment. The painting in the smoke-filled library is Ed Ruscha’s Heaven, 1986. More photos here. (For some reason, there's a lot of shirtless photos of Jacobs.)

In addition to more photos of the Brute estate, the W magazine house tour archives also has a Malibu home designed by Richard Meier, the Rothschilds' London home, and the Duchess of Alba's Spanish palace. And that's not the half of it! There's plenty more fanciness to gawk at in the W archives.

If I could have one insane, over-the-top, excessive room, I would take that library. With the books.

I really love the last one, the rest seem a bit over-decorated, but they all have really wonderful elements.
