The nearest neighbor is thirty-six miles away from the remote log cabin that belongs to brothers Andy and Jonathan Bourne. Located in the Inyo National Forest on the eastern edge of California, the home is "a cross between a European-style mountain hut and a classic American frontier cabin"...
The two story cabin runs on solar power and has steel shutters to keep out the bears.

In case you didn't know, the area they are in is over 300 miles from both the San Francisco Bay area and Los Angeles, about as far east in California as you can get without being in Nevada. There is no interstate access to the area. To find that setting in the East you would likely need to go to extreme Northern NH or Maine or perhaps the Laurentian Mtns of Quebec. Even if you went to those extremes, I suspect your closest neighbor would be less than 36 miles away. Good luck!
