Living On The Odin: A Family Houseboat in Berlin

The cramped quarters of boats are often cited as inspiration for the design of small spaces. (check out The S.S. Waverly in the West Village!). The New York Times gives us a peek at American sculptor Brad Hwang's house boat in Berlin — The Odin — which Hwang has customized for his family...

The Odin is an old industrial barge that is docked on the Landwehr canal in Berlin's Tiergarten park. After many renovations the home now features an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub, a washing machine, central heating, electricity and a pumping system for water. We're especially fond of Hwang's table with built-in woodstove and overhead vent.
