NYT: Hudson Valley Retreat

Eye Candy. Check out the weekend get-away recently featured in the New York Times Magazine. Designed by Thomas Phifer and Greg Reaves, the home features a double-height glass entry and (probably our favorite feature) a simple lining of plywood covering the walls and ceilings...

We've always been fans of using simple materials to gorgeous effect. The combination of natural lighting and the warm glow of the plywood make this modern home super cozy. The simplicity of the built-ins in the library complete the cozy-factor! Be sure to check out the slideshow for all the images.

It's nice to see plywood used so well. I live in a circa 1970's home and the paneling really gets on my nerves. This is just as cheap as that 1970's paneling and 100X better looking.

Lovely house, although I wonder how practical all of that plywood really is. I would imagine it took a hellish amount of sanding and finishing to achieve that finished look. Also, having toured many houses built during the 60's and 70's, I fear that all of this wood will look very dated. I think using the plywood for accent walls would be nice, but to do every wall surface is just too much...

I love the plywood interior. I think it is the perfect compliment to the green setting that the house is in. I want to go there.

That is some seriously beautiful plywood... not the garbage that goes on windows during hurricane season.

Wondering if it is a birch-ply or something like that?

I LOVE This place. Makes me seriously want to pursue my "tiny vacation home" dream.

Although, were it me, I would not have done the ceilings in ply, as well.
