The Origami House in Ireland is comprised of what appears to be 8 individual homes but is actually a single home. Jane D Burnside Architects' design based on "7m square offset pavilions" alludes to small Irish villages and cottages found in this area north of Dublin.
The name Origami House comes from the roof and ceiling:
Upon entering the house, one expansive vaulted ceiling — a folded roof of many planes — a beautiful piece of origami with a cacophony of light from the linear rooflight and walls of glass that embrace the terrace beyond.
Jane D Burnside Architects is known for the use of glass windows and natural light. In this house, 5 of the eight gables are made of glazed glass.
