Though it may not be practical, this Ramp House in Athens is definitely cool. Designed by the architecture firm Archivirus, Ramp House melds the ideas of living and skating into a single space. Much more than a living room with a ramp, this living room IS a ramp...
Built in Athens, Greece as a rooftop addition to an existing building, Ramp House is a new take on the idea of home:
"Basic house elements such as the fireplace and storage units are hidden inside the ramp forms. I also tried to combine the street aesthetics of the skate scene using concrete and the cozy atmosphere of a house using wood. So concrete walls mold into the floor and then concrete turns into wood to create a ramp partition with the kitchen. In that way, the whole space is in actual motion and somebody can flow from one space to the other, skating or walking."
If you're interested, there are a ton of pictures of the space on the Archivirus site.

bepsf, it would really get old fast if you did not have a love for skateboarding but I am sure for the fan/heavy skateboarder this would be the best place ever.

I disagree - I know folks who are MAJOR golf-fanatics who have put in their own putting greens and after a year or so have either ripped them out or let them go back to lawn because their friends don't come by to play like they used to when it was new, and the novelty/challenge is gone...
...and of course, with the low ceiling - the skateboarding owner of this place can't do the aerial tricks that one can do outdoors.
From the messy kitchen, you can see that this is obviously a bachelor pad - Once he grows up and decides to get married and have kids, those ramps are going to get ripped out fast.

Just from the guys and girls I know that seriously skateboard. This place would get very dirty very quickly and no one would be interested in cleaning it.
But it is very cool.

BEPSF, I know they won't last forever but you said "will get old quick". I doubt these guys are gonna get married in the next five years. There are people who redo a regular living space in that amount of time.
Don't put to much thought into it.
It's a fun space that if I had money and skateboard skills, I would put it up in a sec.

I fear the skater will fall into those niche modern pendants which are on the ultimate wish list for me...then again, if he can afford a home w/ a ramp, I suppose those pendants are replaceable for him...

bepsf,
unlike golf, where putting on the same green over and over again involves absolutely no creativity or challenge, skateboarding is a creative endeavor. and as your skill increases so does the possibilities of what you can do.
my friends and i built a mini ramp inside a detached garage and it never got old. you know why? because as i improved i could then try and do newer and harder tricks. and on and on it goes.
if you skated youd know that.

With the price of real estate here in Athens, nice to have the money to do that. I can only imagine what it all cost. Good if you can though.
Guess I will just have to keep looking for my el cheapo dream apartment (I thought looking to have a spare room and WC was a luxury, LOL).
