Super Storage in a SoHo Loft
The New York Times

What would you do for eighty linear feet of built-in cabinetry? The New York Times shows us the SoHo loft of Jeffrey and DesirĂ©e Greene — a modern and minimal space with a secret: tons of built in storage, hidden cabinetry and rooms with movable walls...

Designed by L.E.FT, the home features built in cabinets and under floor storage to hold Mr. Greene's vast collection of over 200 musical instruments and the stuff of life. The Zen appearance (preferred by Mrs. Greene) is helped along by a limited and neutral color palette, a Boffi kitchen with concrete countertops, a giant BDDW table and Patricia Urquiola furniture from Moroso.

The ultimate compromise is Mr. Greene's non-minimalist music room that has a movable wall on a track system. This room and the adjacent dressing room "can be enlarged or compressed as needed."

Don't you love the curled-corner pulls on all the built-ins?

I'm drooling at the idea of that much storage. And the place looks FANTASTIC to boot. (probably because they can store all their (much loved) junk away!!) Very nice. (though, the less-modern slightly cluttered music room doesn't quite fit with the rest of the house! But I still like it! :)

i am grateful not to have that much stuff to store, but the solutions are brilliant.

I would totally take those curled-up doors in a heartbeat! Storage is fantastic, I would love to make that place my own >.

How would one be a minimalist and yet have so much stuff that needs to be stored?
Still a very clever design that would be more than useful for people in small spaces. I really like the concept.

I too questioned the 'minimalist' owner who has so much stuff that warrants this much storage space? Isn't the minimalist way of life to be uncluttered in all aspects?
Although I somewhat like the space, I think the turned up door pulls look like wallpaper or covering gone bad and coming unglued from the walls. Wonder if the owners walk by them and get their clothes snagged by them?
Not for me.....sorry....
