apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Tribeca Loft
The New York Times 5.29.08

We love this image of the Tribeca loft of Kathryn Lynch and Peter Moore. As an architect and developer, Moore has moved his family from project to project a lot in the last dozen years. They've lived in their current home for three years and haven't given up on living a well-edited life that doesn't rely on lots of STUFF...

The New York Times talks to the couple about their many moves and why they've settled into the current place a bit more permanently. A Restless Couple at Rest.

What is the thing on the left hand side of the picture? It looks like an old-style gymnastics horse from this angle.

Those floors are fabulous.

Beautiful place. But with all due respect, it sure looks to me like they have an awful lot of STUFF - as well as an awful lot of SPACE to keep all that STUFF in.

I'm sorry, but I am about to boycott Apartment Therapy. I am so tired of seeing all of the photos from that day's New York Times or this month's Domino/Elle/etc. I already pay to get these and enjoy getting them. This always spoils the fun. Wait til the next day/month so those of us who pay to get these newspapers and magazines can enjoy theirs.

Don't be sorry, Jenzoe. Nobody cares if you boycott.

I like the idea of those 3 canvas pictures carrying over into one another. I don't know if I would choose that exact image for my place but it makes me want to see more options.

i really like the placement of the tall bookshelf divider by the skylight. i'm curious how the rest of this loft is laid out too.

wow - they have 5,000 sf of space! still, it's not the first time AT has posted about really big digs, not just small ones. too bad there aren't more pictures. they could provide some neat ideas which could be implemented in homes only a fraction of this one's size.

They have a lot of stuff...they just have 5,000 square feet of space to spread it out in!

they need all that space so they can run and jump on that gymnastics horse.

I could live here . . . if there were about three times the bookshelves!

I would be concerned that the sunlight coming from the skylight would bleach all of those books.

Pretty. I only don't understand the gym horse and the ottoman cover, but I could use both. Wildly. :)

must be fun moving furniture around to fit a ladder when they want to reach the books way up top.

for somebody who realized he wanted to keep nothing but his father's old tie, this man and family sure have a lot of stuff :)
