Designer Spotlight: Jason Lamberth

2004_8_4_lamberth2.jpgAll-natural. We keep getting good tips on designers that we don't know about, and Jason Lamberth is the latest:

He's great. I recently met him out on the design store party circuit, he's one of those young Brooklyn designers without p.r.--or a showroom--he sells custom and ready-to-use pieces from his warehouse.

Really nice guy, some very cool shapes and it's environmentally sound:
reclaimed timber from Southeast asia.

2004_8_4_lamberth.jpgIndeed. In looking over Jason's site, despite the annoying music and pictures that don't do his furniture justice, he has a very good idea: carving huge pieces of teak into simple modern shapes that are a nice mix of European and Asian influences. His 12 piece Koi collection consists of large scale tables, benches, sideboards, sofas, daybeds and upholstered chairs. This is beautiful stuff, elegantly done. Though we called him to get an idea of his prices, we could only get a machine and were relieved of any sticker shock. For connoisseurs only. (Thanks, Sophie!) MGR
