Nestled in Red Hook with a background in set design as well furniture design, Fanning has a cool, clean aesthetic and an almost futuristic art deco vibe. Working with highly polished steel and thick cut glass as well as wood, a distinctive simplicity confront the luxuriousness of his creations.

In his "about" page, Fanning mentions his close association with a "rich intellectual mix of painters, musicians, writers, dancers, photographers, and architects," and it is clear in his work that he is a showman. His designs for furniture (tables and beds), lighting and dinnerware are all the work of a diva who wants to be noticed. Which is not to say that quality doesn't run deep. On the contrary, this is high end stuff and the craftsmanship on each is impeccable.

Our particular favorite is the RM Platform Bed, which is the only bed we have ever seen that could possbly convince me to sleep on a large piece of stainless steel. It is a sexy piece of work, and definitely not for the couple expecting twins. (Thanks, Dervala!) MGR
