Lanni's Orange & Pink Bedroom
Room for Color - East #1

thumbs up

Name: Lanni
Location: Rochester, New York
Type of Home: single family home

Color Inspiration: I am a very colorful person and I like to be surrounded by color, not matter where I am. My hair is pink, I own more teal blue clothes then should be allowed, and my bedroom is a light pink and a wonderful bright orange. It just makes me so happy!

Give Lanni a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!

Orange and Pink... Sometimes They Work!

Colors Used: The pink and orange were custom shades that we had mixed at Home Depot. The brand we used for the base is Behr. The black paint is Rustoleum chalkboard paint with magnetic paint underneath.

Color Tip: I like balance. When the walls were painted pink and orange, I decided that I would accept with black and white so that the use of color would not be too overwhelming.

Is this a teenager's room?

Lanni you are awesome and must be an interesting person.

I could not live in this but WOW do I appreciate the attention to detail and colors carried out in all elements.

You would make a great merchandizer for a fun young woman store or home decor fun store!

I think this is awesome! I'd love this for a home office NOW and I'm certainly not a teen any more. But I think any teenager or college age girl would probably love this as a bedroom. The Black works really well with the bright, punky yet feminine colors.

Thanks everyone! And I suppose I would call myself a teenager, though I turned 20 two weeks ago! : )

it's fun. it looks a bit young, like maybe a teen's room or a dorm, but i think the teen would enjoy it.

good job w/ the books & sweaters. & as a nerd, i appreciate the nerd elements. ^_^

*btw, that lamp in the 2nd photo ... they are well known for catching fire. if i were you, i'd replace it, maybe w/ something hanging.

I love the shades of pink and orange that were used, the closet office, and the attention to detail (the way the folded clothes and the books were arranged), but surely, some prettier bedding would work? That black bed just looks so unappealing...!

Very youthful and fun...love the color combo and the accessorizing is great. I love "me sunnies", never leave home w/o them, and frequently think about displaying them...a yellow hanger is very cute!

oh...I do agree w/heatherdazy...the bedspread would be so much nice in a bright Indian paisley of pink/orange/red mix...w/shiny things, even!

i've been trying to find a new bedspread, but all the ones i like are so expensive! i'm a college student on a tight budget, finding a cute one that's under $30 is basically impossible, but i'm working on it! :)

I love this room! Wish Lanni could come down and help me organize my office and library.

The photo boxes are super for filing small things, and i love the padded hangar for her sunglasses collection.

Bright, cheerful, and cozy. All in all, a super nice space for a teen or college dorm.

It's like an OCD's wet dream of a dorm room. I mean that in the best possible way. You really pulled all the colour together with clean lines and good organization. Yes it does look like the room of a college student but one with a strong sense of style and a willingness to commit to a design. You sense of colour and style will only deepen with time hopefully. good job!

I do like the room, in a sort of quirky-but-would-not-work-for-me kind of way. I do love my white walls and minimalist stuff, but I think you were very bold and pushed the colour schemes. Just for this, you deserve a vote. This said, I feel you might be 13, with very understanding parents...

Hey Lanni, I have seen your room before (on craftster, I think) back when the Star Trek poster was Twilight. Loved it then, love it now. I think you turned a small space into a very workable space and I love the magnetic wall in the closet with the polaroids.

I'm in the "not my style, but wow" camp. Love the way you display the sunglasses, and I'm totally stealing the way you did the records. Are those push pins? I think it looks really great!

Is the wall next to the Star Trek poster chalk board paint? Great place for your creativity to come out.

i'm thinking i'm voting on this because of the star trek poster and rocky and bullwinkle image on the cork board... but amusing decorative items aside, this is totally not my style, yet i love it. the color combination is bright, happy, and bold. somehow it works.

One of the best room colour combos I've yet to see...You have a great design style! I love so many things in this room, from the records and the placement of them, the chalkboard and poster...everything is placed out very well..........and for all those colours to work together, placement is the challenge. You have created a wonderful room that I'm sure is a pleasure to be in...Great job!
