I hate the ugly cracked green linolium floor in my tiny kitchen, and when i saw the post about the vinyl taped floors by Jim Lambie, i decided to give it a try myself. I'm really happy with the way it turned out!
More detail - if you like - we'll put it within your post: It took about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. I didn't have a set patern - i wanted it to be a random design so i just picked the colors as i went along. it was the perfect indoor project for a cold weekend!

Neat! You've just inspired me. I need a bright, modern, and cheap area rug for my library. I think I'll apply vinyl tape to a floor mat using colors similar to yours. Thanks for sharing!

could you let us know how it wears, after a month or so?
Nice look. Is it sealed?

You can buy tape that is meant for warehouse floors, that ought to hold up:

I'm wondering how floorcloth hasn't come up in these stripey floor stories?
Make your own:

or buy one (no striped ones tho)

If you want to make one you can check out some great images to get inspired:

(Also, if you read the NY Mag story on Lambie's piece, the owner of the apartment says "anytime it gets scuffed, I just replace the tape" which would suggest a less than durable finish.)
