We're at the end of our colorful Roundups and it’s time for purple. What can decorating with purple do for you? Think regal, dramatic. Purple is great for formal entertaining, like a dining room, or a simple way to bring luxury to a guest bedroom.

You can add to the richness of purple with other lush fabrics like velvet, heavy drapes and red accents. And to keep your purple room from feeling too heavy or dark, break it up with something bright, like crisp, white crown molding.

I love that purple is becoming more popular. It can be very dramatic, but because it's both a warm and cool color it does a great job of stepping back to tie together more vibrant elements in a room.

i just came back from prague and vienna and purple was definately the main color being shown....not only in fashion. i would however use it in accessories in home decor that could easily be switched out so as not to date any rooms involved.

Woof. Why pay $3500 for that sofa when you can get the Antoinette Fainting Sofa in Aubergine from Urban Outfitters for less than $600! So cute! So purple!

Obviously, there is a BIG difference in quality and materials between the Urban Outfitters sofa and the Horchow piece. I personally would rather save up for a quality piece.

Speaking of Patrick's Big Window Challenge, where has Patrick gone? We miss his sharp, incisive, witty comments!
And PS: I think it was the lighting in his window that made things look purple---that it wasn't the frames and other objects themselves. . . .

Aulaire--
Thanks for the shout out! I still check in every now and then (and trying to get AT to post a recent interior I just completed!!).
And you are correct, it was the lighting that turned the Benjamin Moore "Wrought Iron" a moon-glow-inspired purple. But I could see this room also working with a gorgeous deep aubergine also.

Love, love, love purple and everything aubergine / plum / magenta. I always loved it but was never courageous enough to use it. That is going to change very soon and I'll start with my bedroom :
