Carpet Quilts by Huck

rug 1.jpg

Due to Lisa's great post from last week, How To: Make an Alterna-Flor Rug , we got this tip about Huck, a fellow who makes something very similar out of recycled carpet samples:

Huck uses all recycled carpet samples, fits them together into either a runner or a rug (no easy feat when working with irregular sizes) and sews them all together. no duct tape, all stitching.

Huck is in LA and can be reached at go2huck.aol.com. There are more pics below. (Thanks, Jim!)

What kind of thread/cord and needle is used here? Is it a special rug needle?

How do you make these? is this your business or did you just create for your own apartment?

These are great and the possibilities are endless. An old fashioned Crazy Quilt would be great for really irregular shaped remnents.

I thought of making a quilt carpet myself.
I thought it would be inexpensive & also if you got a stain, that didn't come out, you could just replace that square. How convenient that would be!
