Move over Flor. The Bouroullec's have done it again: captured the imagination of both high and low designers with a simple carpet "system" that could have been designed by a child, but wasn't.
The Zip Rug is being made by Vitra out of wool felt panels that can be zippered together to any length. Grace says it is made of "high quality, dense wool felt with grey undertones, Zip Rug is will be available (Spring 2005) in green, orange, light brown and dark brown and is resiliant enough for a multitude of uses."
We like it and think that this would be a grea DIY project, using Ikea carpets or industrial felt....point is, it sets you to thinking, doesn't it? (Thanks, John! via MoCoLoco and DesignSponge) MGR

This reminds me of Flor. I got a catalog from them the other day. I loved the catalog's style and the carpet, but I don't want to cover up my hardwood.

Very cool. And if you'd like a purse to (conceptually) match...

I like this idea very much. Flor is awesome but incredibly expensive for me right now. I would appreciate more colors and diffrent sizes. I'll note the name- maybe they'll have a website soon.
