Yay! I think I'll finally be able to make it to my first AT event.

Yay! Same here! And I can finally trade cola drink recipes with PTOO!!!!!

It's in ink in my calendar, and I do not like the crustiness of white-out, so I'm planning to be there. I'm VERY much looking forward to what will sort of be my third 4th AT-related thing to attend in real-live meatspace.

posted by Curtis on 2005-11-18 17:01:08

Yeah! I plan on being there too.

Meatspace? Perhaps I should make an extra effort to get there from Connecticut?

P2 - are you going to be there? I may wing in from Chi-town and finally introduce you to Luigi!

Wish I could go, I REALLY DO. I've been inspired by AT and wish to meet up with some of you. Its that it would be a LONG swim and alot of thumbing my way across the country.........

Have a great time for me!

Aloha!

I will most certainly be there, as this will be the holiday party my own company no longer has!! Hope that the Built offices have a photocopier! :)

And I think we will even be able to lure sitegeek in from the 'burbs to don his party duds and attend. So Kathryn, all introductions will need to be discrete. ;)

Now, what to wear!?!

For those who've never been to an AT event, they are always tremendous fun, and really nice and low key, and the attendees are really great... even if you arrive "stag", you will be chatting someone up (or being chatted up by someone) in no time.

posted by patrick (the other one) on 2005-11-21 11:25:32

Joan, you should definitely make the effort to get there from Connecticut! Why? Because worshipping at my altar is a lonely job, but somebody's gotta do it, so why quit now? I have to at least meet the person who repeatedly said nice things about my contest entry!

But RE: Meatspace -- you do realize that just means in real life, as opposed to cyberspace. I have no idea what's on the menu, but I don't think that address is in the meatpacking district at all.

By the way -- Sneaker-mail = when you actually hand deliver something within your office; face-mail = when you actually speak to them in person. It's been years since I got the little e-mail that went around with a list of such things, but those few stuck with me, because they're kind of useful and fun.

posted by Curtis on 2005-11-22 12:25:42

I gotta say, though -- I just LIVE for how the red chair and the red blood and the green chair in "Chair and Dead Wife" combine to make a very festive holiday illustration for this little thread!

posted by Curtis on 2005-11-22 12:31:27

:) Curtis, you've made my afternoon. Now I'll really have to consider getting down there.

posted by Joan on 2005-11-22 14:27:57

Curtis--

Oh, THAT'S what meatspace means.
Hmmm, I think I'm busy that night. ;)

Joan--
Curtis is worth the trip.

P2-
I just now saw that; thanks! Meanwhile, I've got to think about what I'M gonna wear.

Joan-
P2 is also very much worth the trip, too.

posted by Curtis on 2005-11-23 16:52:08

I'm going to try to stop by for my first AT event, assuming my official office party (from 5:30-7:30) doesn't get too out of hand.

Little chance of that, unfortunately.

Quaffing, guzzling AND a Gift Shop! This just keeps getting better!

For the SoHo/Chinatown impaired, perhaps some train suggestions/cross street?

The AT party is on my To Do list for next Thursday... I wonder if we'll be sampling the new Bouley Better Box wine?
(I kind of want to try it...)

posted by guido on 2005-12-07 13:16:34

Yes, and so could Google maps or the magic voice in the Ford Escape Hybrid. We call her Navigonia.

Or, one posting of a cross street could prevent a lot of people from having to look it up themselves.

posted by patrick (the other one) on 2005-12-07 13:24:44

I'm going to guess 22 Howard is between Broadway and Lafayette. Howard is a teeney street one block north of Canal, that only exists for a few blocks.

THAT is my Holiday Present to p(2) and the rest of the AT crowd!

Google maps doesn't work with my decrepit version of Safari.

posted by guido on 2005-12-07 13:33:43

My handy dandy mapquest -- I don't have a Navigonia of my own -- tells me Built is on Howard between Crosby and Lafayette, one block north of Canal. Appears that the closest subway stops are the 1-line Canal Street and the ACE Canal Street stops, but I defer to anyone with better knowledge of the area.

posted by Doug on 2005-12-07 13:42:46

Don't do #1 train, or ACE unless you live close to one of those lines because the Canal St stop on the 6,N,Q,R,W,J,M and Z lines are much closer. I would even get off at Spring St on the 6 and walk south along Crosby until you hit Howard. If you know where Balthazar is (or the Starbucks just by it) then you know where Crosby st is. Head south from there.

Wish I could go, because I'd really like to meet everyone, but the commute from Boston isn't all that easy during rush hour :). I'm also actually preparing for my own holiday party on Saturday. 42 people. Yikes.

I would love to be there, but will settle for the recap tomorrow.

And PHOTOS!! I want to see photos! I hope lots of you plan to take cameras so that at least one person will actually remember and thus have photos to post tomorrow.

At least I know I'd have a good time if I could go.... someday I'd love to be able to put actual voices and faces with screennames. (And see how well what I've envisioned actually corresponds with real life. That's always a hoot.)

Wish I could be there to meet everyone in person (but couldn't make the airline points work out economically to get a direct flights over and back...) So have a good time, all. I'll crack open a "40" on the west coast right around the time the party gets rolling. Cheers! ;D

hope you folks all have a great time.

Anne is hilarious (with gorgeous gray-blue eyes), mary is as sweet as ever, lori2 is a real sweetie, and frank is rather, um, handsome. Sara Kate is striking and gorgeous as ever...

But Luigi, did I miss you?

posted by patrick (the other one) on 2005-12-16 04:40:14

P2-
Were you and I were portrayed the same actor? Because we were never in the room at the same time. Sorry I missed you!

I sure enough left at 8pm as I needed to, but I did get to meet Anne, too, and pivoting-perfection Paul and Nora and Guido and Margeret, and I got to see again.. jimkk and maxwell and leggy supermodel, sara-kate.

AND I bought the T-shirt with the squiggle on the arm. Nice job on the design! It's purty. So anyone who happens to catch a glimpse of Jim Nabors' love child by Ruth Buzzi on the elliptical machine at the NYSC on 94th and Broadway will see the apartment therapy T-shirt fairly frequently.

posted by Curtis on 2005-12-16 08:27:04

Curtis, sorry to have missed you (and jimkk, and I think jamie pup).

It was like planes trains and automobiles getting there last night, but had a great time when I finally arrived. Good to see not-really-grumpy Paul, who was looking very dapper. So fun to meet the faces behind the names. And the relatives of some familiar faces... Genevieve (did I get that right?), happy birthday! (ps: also cute & gorgeous!)

Thnx, MGR, SKGR, Oliver, Jill, and the folks at Built and Meter.

PS: The Chair & photos looked AMAZING on person. Even the nekked lady ones. :)

Every person I was lucky enough to talk to was just wonderful:

Curtis (sure 'nuf, red shirt and plaid tie), Nora, jimkk, jamiepup, AL (AmyLyn), Paul, Guisepie (I'm sure I misspelled that), Maxwell, guido (female - who knew!) and P2!(I'm going to start putting an exclamation point on his name) - fabulous smile! I'm sure I met others for a moment but my head hurts right now so I can't be blamed for not remembering.

FABULOUS PARTY DAWLING!
