Event Alert: Geneva Lab Designer at DWR Soho Tonight

11-26-geneva3.jpgFurniture for music. We were super excited to see that DWR had just started selling the three Geneva Sound Systems (read all about it over at Home Tech), but we wanted to give a little shout out that Fabian Meier, CTO of Geneva Lab and a leader of Geneva’s in-house design team, is speaking tonight...

From ">DWR’s SoHo Studio: He’ll explain the inner workings of the Geneva system and how it fits into the tradition of furniture designed for music that started 100 years ago with the invention of the Victrola.

Audiophiles are invited to bring MP3 players and try out the Geneva Sound System with their own music. Don’t have a player yet? We’ll be giving away a black iPod Nano, perfectly suited for use with the Geneva (which comes in black, white or red). Beer and wine will be served

RSVP to soho@dwr.com by November 26.

I played with one of these at the Conran shop. You can get better and bigger sound for the money but nothing I know of looks this sweet. I've chosen a Bose solution ($300) with a separate subwoofer and connected it to an XM reciever. I was able to tidy the wires up fairly well. Not as cool as this - but cool enough.

Do any audiophiles have MP3 players?

jon b,

interesting article in the times very recently on the subject - the trade-off between convenience and quality (or perceived quality).

convenience is winning... even among self-described audiophiles.
