We posted on the AVL Shaker chair by Joep van Lieshout and Moooi last spring and then we bought six chairs for $198 each (free shipping, however).
We should have waited.
Right now DWR is kicking these chairs out the door for $98 apiece. The AVL Shaker tables and the barstools also have a deep discount, but the chairs, at 50% off, are much more impressive.
Oh, and we hear they have PLENTY left...
Love the chairs and love the price. but can you tell me, are they actually comfortable?? The back looks really low.
How well do these pieces wear? (We have cats.) Thanks for the tip - am considering.

i think this would be good as a bar stool because you don't usually lounge in one of those anyway. why or why don't they make a counter height version? :(
that's why they have so many of these chairs left -- they are NOT comfortable to sit in. there is no back support. and depending on how tall you are -- the back of the chair can hit you in a really bad place. i tried sitting on one at one of the stores and said "forget it". a very typical example of a piece of furniture that looks great but does not accommodate the body well.
not comfortable andf it doesn't look that good anyway. nuff said.
I bought two of these in red. I found out they are knockoffs made in China by DWR & Mooi and the red laquer flakes off pretty easily. That's why they are being closed out. I decided to order two brown stained ones also. They don't seem to have problems. They are very comfortable. And the style is just beautiful, simple and interesting. They look like kids chairs made for adults. Eye candy to be sure!
