Hot tip from Enrique:
Hey all. I know we're a few months away from AT's bedroom month, but wanted to pass along a great 20% off deal on the W Hotel bed. In addition to the 20% off discount, they're including free white glove delivery (and not charging sales tax, if taking delivery outside of NY state)...
3 DAY delivery in NY Metro Area, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Orlando and DC Metro Area. To take advantage of the discount enter the promo code D8U3X at checkout; or mention the code if you phone in the order.
1-800-Mattress processes all of the bed orders... Also, the 20% is good on all home purchases through the W Hotels Store website through 12/12.
Their stock includes their own line of beddings, Bliss, Kartell, Jonathan Adler, Suck UK, etc. (But deals on everything except the bed do not include free delivery; so savings aren't as substantial on this merch.) And, yes, I did purchase a mattress... Details here.
great music selection
Enrique,
Did you get your mattress yet? How is it?
Ahhh, I've been in need of a new mattress for a while but have put off mattress shopping. My past experiences with mattress shopping have not been pleasant. I was considering a Sleep Number bed after some relatives purchased one, but I think I just want an old-fashioned comfortable mattress.
With the 20% off, a King-sized mattress from the W store comes out to a pretty good price. My only concern is not being able to test it out in person first coupled with their No Returns policy on mattresses.
Enrique - if you've received your mattress yet I'd also like to know if you enjoy it. Did you do the plush top or the pillow top? My personal preference is for a firm mattress with a little give versus a soft mattress.
Thanks for the tip on the sale!
Yeah... Did you go for plush or pillowtop?
Which is best?
I take delivery on the mattress on Friday afternoon and will report back after the weekend. I purchased the plush top and am adding a featherbed. I average 20-30 nights a year at different W Hotels, and have slept soundly on every mattress I've had. According to a forum on fatwallet.com, the bed has similar specs to Sealy's BeautyRest Classic line. The operator I spoke to when ordering the bed comfirmed this, but added that the W Hotel-branded beds are spec'd out to a higher level because of its commercial use. After comparing prices with Sealy and the Westin Heavenly bed, this bed seemed to be the best value (especially after factoring in the no sales tax and free white glove delivery). Bottom line: this wasn't the cheapest bed I've found, but it also wasn't ridiculously expensive for the quality. And I know I'll like it better than my current IKEA foam mattress.
Here's a link to the FatWallet forum on the bed. It should answer most everyone's questions. (Unfortunately, the 35% off promo mentioned is no longer running. Just the 20% off deal. And I did ask--because I'm cheap.)

Does the White Glove delivery service include removal of your old mattress?
I'm looking forward to Enrique's follow-up too.
Hey JoE. I just confirmed delivery time with the local 1-800-Mattress people; and they said that their white glove delivery service on the W bed includes removal of the old mattress.
Thank you Enrique!
I would love a W hotel bed, or bedroom...Love the times square location, even if it is "trying" too hard.
Thanks for tip. I just ordered the plush-top queen set and went for the mattress topper as well. Total was $961. This was timely, because I was going to order a Marriott bed (I spend 70 - 80 nights per year with them). I'll let you know how it goes.
I want a twin pillow top W set. Where is the best place to get it, and is the Simmons bed that costs $1,000 at my local mattress store, and charges $50 bucks to deliver the same bed. I live in San Diego, and want to know if it's best to order directly from the W Store. It says on their website that a twin costs a thousand. is there a 20 percent discount and is it free delivery?
Thanks,
Paula
Be advised that "white glove service" to carry away your old mattress will not be provided by W Hotel's delivery service if your old mattress has any stains on it, no matter how small.
