That Ann Gish stuff is GREAT. I have some in Charcoal. Gor. Geous.

Damn, this nasty job keeps getting in the way of shopping!!

I have fallen in love with the new Sigrid Olsen bedding "Seawater" and "Corsice" - but at $350+ for a duvet cover - it is way out of my budget. So, was thrilled to see the Ann Gish sale - but realize too that even at 70% off - this too is out of range. Any suggestions?

    Saralee--

I hear you... bedding is not cheap. I say, pick up what you can, when you can, but a few pieces at a time... I sometimes start with Euro Square shams and a coverlet, to give the most impact to the "architecture" of the bed.

But this is also an area where I am most apt to splurge, so I save up. I also drop hints to friends and family at gift-giving times... much of my bedding has been offset by gift certificates.

You may also want to check out the "Khaki" line of Calvin Klein bedding at major department stores, or the "Hotel" line at Macy's, marketed as "Hudson" at Bloomies. Some nice looks there for smaller pricetags, especially if you stalk their white sales...

Does anyone have any idea when the Area sample sale is? I believe they had one in Tribeca last spring (May, possibly)?

I'm looking to stock up this year and want to make sure 1) I am in town that weekend and 2) budget for it. wink

    Thanks.

I really did not need to know about that Ann Gish sample sale.

Saralee, listen to Patrick, he's a wise, wise man. I bought a new duvet cover (to replace the floral one that people gave such grief to when it showed up on someone else's bed in a post last year). It's from the Hotel Collection at Macy's and I waited and waited and got it on some kind of crazy markdown so It wasn't too bad (about $100 or so for king size). I bought shams and one Euro sham separately at...wait for it... Weber's on 32nd St. They clearly got some shipment from a company so I got these groovy satin shams to make it all kind of glam. Ooo la la!

The lesson I guess is shop sales and look everywhere. Also, don't overlook eBay. If you see something that you love but is $$$, plug it in and see if someone's selling it. You can probably get something quite nice for a good price.
