don't care too much for the shade or shinyness (shininess? both look wrong) but the kartell legs are lovely!
oh finally a twinge of appeal in lighting.
My handy-dandy little 2005 calendar tells me that Area had a sample sale this week last year. But the only ample sale reference I can find for them is in December.
Does anyone know when they do their sample sale?
rasil - are you referring to the gold tone of the lamp? It comes in clear and black too and I think both look much better than the more expensive gold and chrome finishes.
I love this lamp and have thought about buying one but I'm not sure how long its appeal will last for me...
em, it's the shine, not the gold, a duller gold would be ok.......too bulky for my own apt though and out of my price range i'm sure.
I agree rasil, a duller gold would be better than this kind of bold brassy gold. One really nice thing about the lamp is that you can adjust it to 3 different heights. Then again, I suppose you can do something similar with most lamps by adjusting the size harp you use.
I believe this lamp runs around $280. I wish it were a wee bit less. I have these silly pricepoints I make up for how much I want to spend on something based on how long I will keep it. For example, when I moved into my current rental I had a set furniture budget. I found a $2500 sofa that I loved but a $900 sofa I liked okay. I went with the cheaper one since it worked alright for my space and I knew I would probably sell it when I moved. If I spend $280 on a lamp I need to know I'm going to like it for a few years. For $50 I don't care if I only like the lamp for a while.
