off topic:
please advise: I just moved into a studio by columbus circle, and since a lot of my money is going to rent, I'm shopping for an affordable dinnerware set (for 4 or so). I've looked at the crate & barrel starter set as well as the pier one starter set. the links are below. I was wondering if you guys could help me decide on an inexpensive dinner set? which of those two would you go for and why? thanks in advance.

THANKS!
Check out IKEA. They have similar styles for a lot less. (slightly blemished, but I thnk dishes change frequently enough...)
I like Fiestaware myself and it's pretty indestructible. Macy's often has the sets on sale for $20-25 each and you can buy fun vintage accent and serving pieces on eBay.
GO TO HOUSINGWORKS. i can not tell you the wonderful dinnerware i've seen there and the salv army, even when everything else is bad. i have to keep reminding myself i have more than enough dishware.
