We couldn't resist. When you are sitting in Tribeca and you see that something is being offered for sale on Craigslist in Shanghai, China, you just have to click on the link. This rare antique bed (which is actually more of a room) was found for sale on the London Craigslist (but posted from China), and you have to wonder who on earth is going to buy this and ship it. It is beautiful, however. (all via Craigslist) MGR
OTHER STUFF
- Upright piano for $300
- Groovy lucite table asking $200 (haggle, haggle)
- 32" round butcher block table for $60
- Odd large copper tub for $35

There are usually a number of these for sale at the ABC Warehouse in the Bronx. I think they may be a bit cheaper as well. (not sure about that though)
I just had a new reproduction Chinese canopy bed made for my home and due to the effort and labor it takes to make one, it costs me about twice as much as an antique one. Bed's are funny things in that, Chinese tend not to buy antique beds due to superstitions (namely that someone probably died in them and therefore the bed is probably haunted). Consequently antique canopy beds can be often cheaper then reproductions.
