Being a cool denizen of the LES, of course Roland has a Mid Century Stow Davis Credenza in his apartment. The question is what is he trading up to?

Argh, this put me in a bad mood (no offense, Maxwell). I spend hours scouring EBay and then to see some stuff that I eye posted up for all the lazy people...well, it's enough to make me quite miffed. Craig's List I could handle, because it's just one source. I'll get over it, I guess. Hmph.
I'm wondering if anyone who has posted in AT Classifieds has been the target of an attempted scam.
I got an unusual email asking my lowest price without arranging to see the item, then a plea for "patience" as her "shipper" is in "Africa". I replied that I want to sell to a local buyer who is paying cash, and have heard nothing more. Hmmm...
Anyone else get this sort of email via AT???
carol--
Yes, I've had an email like that... it's a scam. They propose sending you a larger amount, having you deposit the check, etc. Don't know what the deal is.
Carol,
Yes, scammers are everywhere and I have emailed with a number of people how have posted on the classifieds. Common sense, like you used, is all you need and never make and exchange that isn't cash and carry.
It sounds like a standard 419 Nigerian fraud scheme. Most of them target people via spam, but maybe they're getting fancier now that people are catching on.
