at4511660b7d4f10.38847003.jpgB is selling an Eames sofa and is looking for a quick sale, so we're betting the price is negotiable. It's upholstered in a tobacco brown naugahyde that is in near perfect condition. -MM

I don't like this...it looks like a cheap futon and uncomfortable. Maybe some people will feel compelled to like it just because it's Eames...I personally find all his stuff I've seen so far looks kinda cold and uncomfortable. Just saying, 1200$ seems like alot for a c non comfortable looking couch. But I guess it's a good deal right?

Jesus, how many times did I say uncomfortable...one more time, UNCOMAFORTABLE

I do like that tobacco brown color, but agree with Cassandra - uncomfortable is uncomfortable no matter who made it or what it costs.

What is naugahyde, exactly?

And how is that better than, say, leather?

i dunno. there's something satisfying and airporty about it that i think could work really well in the right room. and i don't know that it would be really uncomfortable. probably not something to snuggle up on with a video on a rainy saturday, but you know, not everybody has that kind of lifestyle. it would be great for an office, or in a more formal situation. of if you already have a different piece that fills the lounging around function.

naugahyde is a synthetic leatheresque type material. you see it a lot on furniture from the 30's-60's. all those dinette sets with the formica and chrome table, the upholstered side chairs are generally naugahyde. it's not 'better' than leather. it's just different. easier to clean and care for, also cheaper. i have a great naugahyde armchair at home which is very comfy, and no, it's not leather, but, well, c'est la vie.

Cassandra - that Eames 'couch' is one of the most comfortable I've ever sat on. It's obvious you've never had the pleasure...........

I agree with Cassandra. I have trouble getting comfortable on a couch without armrests. Plus, those chrome legs remind me of the folding tables we used to use for my CCD class. And I really don't want to relive those memories.

I REALLY want a Nauga:

I'm not sure I'd want a couch covered in Naugahyde, but it's a great material for covering things like padded chrome kitchen chairs.

Cassandra, this chair is actually quite form fitting and comfortable. By the way, Charles and Ray Eames were husband and wife designers who left a legacy of magnificently designed furnishings, art, architecture and even children's toys. They have passed on, but the Vitra design and Herman Miller continue to reproduce some of their works under licence.

Do a little investigating. You'd be surprised.

$1200 for this awesome origninal mid-century modern piece is not bad if it is in great shape.
