That rug sure doesn't look 9x6. It looks more like 5x3, in which case the price is a bit high.

I'd look at the chair legs and table base and the width of the doorway for scale, doesn't look like a postage stamp to me.

I am sure that this is the wrong forum for this observation (/request?) but...
It may be the particular tastes of the New York crew putting together the craigslist finds, (i don't spend much time on the site other than searching for something...) but it seems that nearly all of the posted furniture coming out of the metro area in recent memory has either a somewhat heavy leather-chrome-overstuffed-feel to it. Sort of like the sopranos and scarface got together to have a garage sale. Or its ill-proportioned solidwood furniture from the 80's that OBVIOUSLY no one wants anymore.
I put it only in context with many of the finds from the Chicago and California areas which seem to be chock full of clean modern furniture looking for a home. Is this indicative of the tastes of New York City? Does it illustrate how the cost of living and the small amount of space keep people from buying nice furniture? I don't really know, but i would love to see some more exciting things come our way, because i'm slowly being tempted to suck it up pay for shipping things all the way from northern Illinois, where apparently everyone is given an 'introduction to modern design' textbook when they are born.

To be fair, the DWR sofa above is fun and nice. I just re-read my post and it was not meant to infer that the posters have poor taste, merely that we in the east seem to have less available to us on craigslist.

My experience in general is that "stuff I like" to the extent I would consider buying it is always in the "wrong" city.

That rug is so ugly.
Ugly when new, ugly now!
Not all old crap from the 70's is worthy of re-use or calling vintage.

Andrew C-
Thanks for your comment. While it must be said that on some days Craigslist New York doesn't have as much to offer as we'd like, we try to pull items that span a broad range of tastes. If we find ourselves going too much in one stylistic direction, we try to branch out. While it may not always be to our individual taste, it goes without saying that one man's trash is another man's treasure.
But, I hear you. Thanks for the input.
Also, New York Scavenger will soon be making picks from both eBay and Etsy, so that should broaden the options a bit.

I'm glad to see furniture on here that's doesn't reek of the MCM Kool-Aid we've all been drinking lately. No, I'm not willing to pay $2,000 for a Persian rug (I don't have that kind of money), but thanks for posting it.
