ICFF 2008: Chairs Worth Waiting For

2008-ICFF-NY.jpgPart of the fun of ICFF is finally getting to see/touch/experience furniture that we only know through pictures. We were thrilled to check out a number of designs for the first time. In addition to using the image of the Steelwood chair for ICFF promotional materials, the Bouroullec Brothers' design for Magis was the featured chair in the ICFF auditorium (above)...

The Steelwood is a beautiful chair that will age gracefully.

Konstantin Grcic's Myto for Plank — comfortable and cool (this cantilevered chair stacks, too).

The Bouroullec's Slow Chair for Vitra — an outstanding design and super comfortable!

Jaime Hayon's new Showtime series of chairs for Barcelona Design. These are only two examples of various options available. We're especially fond of the quilted seats!

Really like those steelwood chairs but $530 a piece? Hmm...

They all look really uncomfortable, with the possible exception of the Slow Chair.

to respond to the comfort concern...none of them were more uncomfortable than they appeared...that said, the slow chair was the most comfortable (and looks it). Showtime and Steelwood were both great dining/upright chairs and Myto was very comfortable when you consider that it is stackable and cantilever....all in all a great bunch!
