Vegetal Chair by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

Following last year's critical success of their Steelwood chair for Magis, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec have continued to add new and unique designs to their ever-expanding portfolio. Their newest design — the Vegetal Chair — was inspired by vegetation and the structures of plants...

Designed for Vitra, Vegetal is an extension of the brothers' ideas surrounding the shape and form of Algues — their 2004 design for a modular, web-like decorative screen (also for Vitra).

Vegetal is made from polyamide (dyed throughout) and — like many of the Bouroullec's designs — pushes the limits of the material for strenghth and durability. The brothers' website offers a look at sketches and prototypes that led to the final design of the chair.

Vegetal is a stacking plastic chair suitable for indoor and outdoor use. It is available in 6 vegetable-inspired colors: basic dark, mauve grey, brick, cream, marron and forest.

We're eager to see this chair in person and can't wait for its launch this year! We'll let you know of developments and pricing as it becomes available.
