The hanging chair was designed by Nanna Ditzel for R. Wengler, Denmark. 1957, but it's obviously a design with lasting power. And lately we've been a little obsessed with it. In a recent interview with Meade Design Group, Jonathan Adler named the hanging chair as the one thing that every house should have. We thought that, as renters, this was a design object that we'd have to just admire from afar. But then we saw the last photo in this series and realized that, all we needed was a stand. Have you ever thought about getting one of these? We found a few relatively reasonably priced sources for chairs and stands here.

We had one of those when I was growing up. Ours hung from a stand and had some huge flokati-like cushions. I remember curling up in it and reading the day away. Man did I love that chair.
So, yes. If I had the chance (and room) I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I did this about 8 years ago in a clients lobby space, they still look good.
If you don't want to hang one you can get a similar look with something like this-

I have the TONIC HOME chair - brand new I bought a few months ago and just can't find a place for it in my house...if you're interested I will part with it for $350.
It's still brand new, with tags on it.

Showing my age... but I remember these and I loved them so much. I didn't have one, but my best friend did, and I had always coveted it! My daughter actually has a yearning for one. I guess I could fulfill my childhood dream and live vicariously!

Ikea used to have a really cute wicker/rattan one that came in (I believe) different colors.

I **love** these. LA Style Unveiled featured a real wedding with a bride and groom in them recently and it's my favorite picture from the bunch!

I found one in the street right outside my apartment one day. We dragged it up, stand and all, and it was used perhaps once.
The pictures look beautiful and relaxing, but in our space it just looked like a 70s throwback, or something out of a dorm room.
