Ron Arad: No Discipline
The Museum of Modern Art

The Museum of Modern Art just opened a retrospective of the design work of Israeli-born Ron Arad. To display the work for the show, Arad himself created a huge stainless steel structure, named the Cage Sans Frontières (Cage Without Borders). The Cage takes up the entire gallery space and holds most of the pieces in the show, like Box in Four Movements, his iconic Ripple Chairs, and Bouncing Vases.

The Cage Sans Frontieres measures 16’5” x 126’4” x 34’5” and was manufactured by Marzorati Ronchetti. The huge stainless steel grid alone is worth the price of the show! But we think you'll also enjoy the smaller designs, like the shiny stainless steel chairs Even The Odd Balls, which are nicely presented in the interior space of the Cage.

Ron Arad: No Discipline is showing at The Museum of Modern Art through October 19, 2009. View the exhibition website at MoMA.org.
