Thank you for the article. This is EXTREMELY helpful. I am trying to find 'space-saver' furnitures. This is definitely would be really good for my one bedroom condo that I just bought.

I purchased the Nomade Express last summer for our guest bedroom/office. During a recent visit my daughter slept on it nightly for more than a month. Her report was that it is firm but very comfortable.

Opening and closing it is relatively simple but after closing there is a zipper that helps holds the folded mattress in place that is a bit difficult to work with. It is a handsome piece and I would certainly buy it again.

I've slept on a Mitchell Gold sofabed every night for the last 9 years (studio apartment, hate when the whole apartment looks like a bedroom). It's totally comfy.

That Room and Board Comfort Sleeper is impossible to close for one person unless you are one really big strong person. Both me and the saleswoman could not close it.

who makes the ivory 3 cushion sofa in the lower left hand corner????

The room and board comfort sleeper is actually made by american upholstery/leather. they just charge more for it at room and board, and offer some special colors.

also, it's awesome - super comfortable as both a bed AND as a couch. Macy's carries the whole line, but you can usually find it at a slightly lower price at other furniture stores.

you can also sometimes luck out with one at the room and board outlet in new jersey with only a few scratches to the leather at incredibly good prices.

we have the twilight sleeper from dwr and our guest have just said it's been okay- they are still very low to the ground as well.

Thanks for the review of the Nomade Express. I've been considering that or the Smala from Ligne Roset. I defintely want a firmer sleeper sofa. Most of the conventional ones seem too soft for my family (like my dad who bought a (heated) stone-slab bed, I kid you not).

Does anyone have any insight on the LC5.F from Cassina? I'd like to test it out but the Cassina store and DWR stores in Manhattan do not have floor samples. Anyone know where I could see the sofa in NYC? Thanks!

We love it for occasional guests in our spare room / office / eventual nursery. It's a pretty firm mattress, but everyone who stays with us says they get a fantastic night's sleep on it. Plus, it's fairly cheap at $900.

We also have the Zen sleeper sofa and absolutely love it. At the moment it functions as our main couch in our guest room/tv room. We also love the adjustable back, which folds out flat (obviously..hence the bed) or reclines for a supreme lounging experience! Our guests have claimed that it is very comfortable.

I have the Lounge Sofa Bed from 'apt'. It's fantastic. Super comfy and looks ultra cool. My place has totally become the place to crash when our friends from out of town come to visit. Probably because we have the most comfortable sofa bed out of all our friends.

Which RnB and CnB sofas are made by Mitchell Gold?

I recently bought an American Leather sofa bed from Room and Boar. It is the Dawson model, which is suited for small apartments in NYC. However, the bed is very uncomfotrable. I wake up with aches, primarily in my upper shoulder, as if someone has kicked me. My futon was 1,000 times more comfortable than my new Dawson sofabed, and I am very disappointed. It is also difficul to open, and is not a good design. Also, the pillows on the back must be removed, even though they are supposed to flip up because they are zipped on. Unless you pull the entire sofa from the wall, they will not stay up when flipped. Anyway, I was promised by the saleswoman that American Leather made the best sofa beds for every day use. It is true that there is no metal bar, but I'd rather deal with a bar than this piece of junk. At nearly $4,000 (inclusive of shipping and tax), I feel completely ripped off, and would never buy anything from American Leather or Room and Board again.

American Leather really does make the best sleeper sofas on the market. They do several private models for Crate and Barrel, Room & Board, and High Fashion Home.

After months of searching, I'm in love with the looks & the functionality of this set up from momento italiono - it's a clean, modern sofabed that (sort of) becomes a chaise with the ottoman.

One big problem - at 112' it's about a foot too long for my apartment (and it's also carries a pretty hefty price tag).

Does anyone have any suggestions? I love the look of a 3 cushion larger sofa with exposed legs...the Reese at MGBW 9pictured above) is an option, but it was sort of uncomfortable to sit on, standard sized and the welting was odd. Has anyone bought the Reese sleeper? Thanks!

I have to agree with jblu and chrisnyc. I also bought an American Leather sofabed, and absolutely hate it. It's very difficult for me to open, but closing is much easier. However, the worst part is that the mattress itself. Very, very uncomfortable. I'm waking up with so much back ache that right now I'm sleeping an egg crate on the floor, which is much more comfortable. The whole thing is very disappointing, but fortunately Room and Board will take it back. I do have to pay a re-stocking fee, which actually turns out to be alot (I have a leather Dawson in Bison Brown). Also, the leather on my Dawson reeks. The smell is so bad I have to keep the windows open all the time. Anyway, I'm thinking about getting the Nomade Express, but not 100% sure. I certainly can't afford to make another costly mistake.

Has anyone tried the sleeper sofa from Bob's Discount Furniture? The name makes me think twice, but it looks decent, and it's half the price of Crate & Barrel's twin sleeper sofas (I have a maximum size limit of 63")
Any comments?

and i am very satisfied with it. Although it is a top quality piece of furniture priced at around 4,000$ i think it was worth the price and the wait. I have been around many places and haven't found any sofabed which actually could come close to this one in terms of look. It is extremely modern looking and opens very easily, the bed is strong and it also comes with two storage pockets on the back of the sofa. Here is how it opens

The ivory sofa pictured at the top is the MGBW Reese sofa—I think it's incredibly attractive. Such crisp lines, and I love how it's elevated. (Most sleeper sofas sit on the ground with a clunky skirt.) I've been thinking of getting it for a while.
