apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Good Questions: Any Info. On The Neptune Sofa?

4.4couch.jpgHello AT,

I'm deep into the Spring Cure and getting inspired by everything I'm seeing so far from my ATSF curers/curees?! :)

Any way, two weeks ago I was shopping at Therapy in San Francisco and found the perfect new couch.

It's the Neptune Sofa in an ocean blue (soft blue with woven muted yellows/greens--barely noticeable)...

(Note: Include a pic of your problem and your question gets posted first.)

The one pictured here is the model I'm inquiring about--though obviously in orange (also lovely--but dunno if I can pull this one off).

Wanted to see if anyone new anything about this sofa as I can't find many reviews online (other than a couple positive yelp reviews), and AT readers always seem to be super helpful.

Thanks! Nicole

I don't know much about that couch, but it looks great.

I was looking for something similar as well. We went with the Corona set from Macys. The look is really close to these couches but their price is a lot lower usually. Plus they had it in a pear green which is what we needed. The one we're getting is really comfy so i imagine that the one you want should be too.

I purchased the Corona as well and while it has similar lines and the legs are the same; I think this sofa looks sleeker because of the double row of tufting, the 2 seat cushions (instead of 3) and what looks to be a lower seat height. Still, the Corona was a steal (get it when Macy's is having one of their frequent sales)

Yeah, I saw the Corona after I purchased the $1,599 Andre from Room and Board. Ugh. The legs are different and the Corona's has three smaller pillows as opposed to two, but look very similar.

Therapy in SF rocks. I'm so glad it still exists. I've gotten some amazing things there -- back when it was a tiny shop -- throughout the years, the people who own it have a great curatorial eye.

I have friends who bought the sectional version of this sofa and it's really comfortable. And for the price, I think you can expect it to last for a while. Therapy rocks--especially for affordable non-Ikea furniture.

I am so confused by this post. If the couch and store are in SF why is this a New york question? Because I'm seriously digging that couch and a little mad I can't buy it in NYC...

So sorry FFR! I actually saw the picture posted on another blog! Didn't know there was another awesome furniture store in SF carrying great stuff like this sofa. Can't wait to come check it out--looks like you have some really great stuff. Do you have the Neptune in that ocean color!? :D

Thanks everyone for your comments/advice. I will also take a look at the Macy's corona as a comparison.

I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned the similarity to the Petrie Sofa from Crate & Barrel. We have the Petrie and it's very comfortable and attractive. Unfortunately our cat also enjoys it for its luxurious scratching post qualities!

Reg at Funky Furniture here again. Just wanted to say that my sofas like the Neptune are made here in California, so by purchasing from me you're supporting my locally owned biz, plus my manufacturer's. Also, my Neptune sofa is $1295 including shipping in most fabrics, Crate and Barrel Petrie sofa is $1499 plus shipping. ;-)

I noticed the similarity to the Petrie immediately, but we looked at the Petrie last year when sofa shopping, and I would advise against it. I like C&B very much in general, but I wasn't impressed with the fabric nor with the cushions - they reminded me of a futon. I don't know the store or this sofa at all, but it looks terrific.

We ended up purchasing our sofa and chairs from Room & Board. They have pieces very similar in look to this, and imo they tend to be very good quality for the price.
